Easy. Pizza Joint near a large federal government administrative building OR in the dicksucktruct of Columbia (Washington, DC}.

My question to private sector workers: what private sector jobs do you get furloughed from for a month and then GET PAID for that month vacation ? And where do I apply?

Federal employees have missed what, one paycheck? We have two mandatory shutdowns at work per year, each lasting a week, so that they can have outside vendors repair and overhaul the big CNC machines. Both breaks are unpaid, unless you use your own vacation days. Nobody gives me free s~~~ because of it.

Its just been super political from the start. Day one of the shutdown the mainstream media was running articles about federal workers who weren’t getting paid. It wasn’t until like last week they actually missed a paycheck. You also don’t see anything in the news about all the local banks and credit unions across the country who offer federal employees interest free loans during the shutdown. Combine that with the fact that a lot of federal employees are making an above average wage…if you are making an above average wage and living paycheck to paycheck, you are doing it wrong. Maybe(although doubtful) some of them will take this as a lesson learned and build a little emergency account when they go back to work.

Exactly, this is a perfect opportunity for any financial institution to boost their image but allowing fed employees to miss some payments and or get tax free loans. The government has guaranteed the loans will be replayed. I would think utility companies would also jump at the chance to let some bills slide. After all, do you really want your companies name to pop up in the news as the first utility to cancel service to a federal employee? Hell no.

And yes, if your job is dependent on the federal government voting to continue funding you, you really should be prepared for a rainy day.

    Ok. Then do it.

I have forgotten to pay mine in the past…honest mistake, just misplaced the bill and forgot about it. They didn’t even charge me a late fee unless I was more than 30 days late…so basically by the time I got my next bill I still had over a week to pay it. If I was no pay past the second bills due date it would start a 30 day timer to get shut off…so basically if I paid in December, forgot to pay in January, got my double bill in February and didn’t pay, they’d come shut me off in March sometime. If any federal employees are getting power shut off at this point…they were well behind before the shutdown even started…but you better believe the media would have a field day running that companies name through the mud!

meh. Looks like a joke to me. That’s what I would treat it as.

All true. Even then, if I’m a higher up at a major utility, I want to make darn sure we don’t cancel a furloughed employees services to avoid the negative PR. I don’t care if they were already 60 days late when the shutdown starts.

    Ok. Then do it.

Have the person that put that jar out arrested.

Collecting cash under the guise of it being aid for federal workers is a form of fraud.
