I’ve been reading some work by Sam Harris about freewill.

    https://www.samharris.org/free-will

I understand his work was so supposed to be thought provoking, not so much dogma, so this is what I came up with.

So stealthy said something about chess in another thread. Can’t find it right now but I know he said it.
Paraphrasing it he said something about learning to play chess.

Something my father always told me, but I never got it.

I know how to play chess, but not well at least I think so I always play against a computer and pretend it is my father moving the pieces.

I never had time to play with him in life at chess that is, he was physically disabled from an advanced case of arthritis .

Any ways I pictured to myself playing someone that believes in no freewill.

Wasn’t my father this time, it was Sam Harris I guess.

So I kept asking that said other player,

    ME:
“for who moves these pieces if there be no freewill?”
    ME:
“Is the chess game pre-determined before you play?”

    THEM:
“But it’s a chemical reaction in your brain you are predisposed to move a certain way.”

( you know some non-believer bulls~~~, the sorta thing some who thinks he knows it all, got the whole f~~~ing thing figured out. Congratulations you human butt wipe!)

    ME:
“You mean to say, there’s no stratagem to chess? That you moved based on whim?”

    THEM:
“No I mean to say, I move the pieces based on the choices you present, but I have no actual control over them. My brain makes me move a certain way, I have no control of my brain.”

    Getting the idea here?
