I don’t recall your situation Joetech, but it sounds like you handled this just fine. Women stage these ‘contact events’ so it’s a no lose situation for them. If you didn’t pick up, then she can label you a jerk and that makes her feel good. If you are nice to her, then that makes her think she’s still got it, and she feels good. If you tell her off, then again, you’re the jerk, she feels good.

The best answer is complete ambivalence. No emotion whatsoever. What she absolutely doesn’t want to hear is that she invokes nothing in you whatsoever. No love, no hate…nothing. No attention for her.

I’d say you were slightly on the jerk side with a bit of ambivalence since, but relatively polite about it. She can’t feel too good about that.

There’s some morbid satisfaction in their desperation. No chance of them ever changing your mind. It can be a nice little red pill reboost.

A great way to p~~~ them off is act all excited they called, ask them to hang on for a second because you need to get something.

Set the phone out on the deck and walk away. Go back to whatever you were doing. The key is ignoring the next two hours of her calling you to chew you out.
