You need to be a little more detailed. Who is the author? And what is the series about?

It is a SciFi series from a while ago where women are slaves and can be raped and killed at a whim by men. Not something this site should glorify.

Sounds like a Sci-Fi version of Fifty Shades of Grey. Rape porn for women. Not likely to find men reading that sort of garbage here or anywhere.

I have the books, haven’t read them yet, I am a rabid reader, especially when it comes to older Sci-Fi. I did not know they entailed what Jan just said… I thought it had more to do with Time Travel. I thought I had an old VHS low budget movie that was made based on this series… Very hazy on all this, will have to go look some stuff up.

Ok, yea, I have the movies on VHS, watched them years ago, they were bad. IMDB says they have nothing in common with the books though…

An IMDB review says: “In the books, slave girls revel in their sexuality. In the movie, slave girls are props for showing how evil the evil bad man is. Pathetic.”

Ah, just read a bit more, it has to do with another planet and it’s somewhat barbaric society. I am sure the books are good, just haven’t gotten around to them yet.

As far as women being slaves in Fantasy/Sci-Fi, I got no problem with that. When my last president just sent men in Libya who share his same skin color back into slavery I don’t think an old Sci-Fi book is going to do us any harm.

John Norman is the author.. Boris did a lot of the illustrations in the 70’s and 80’s..He was a very popular artist known for Dragons and Barbarian type genre art work.
The book series was about time travel and a ‘sister’ planet of earth. It wasn’t predominantly about raping anybody. But slaves both men and women were in the theme.

Nice, yea, I have two large bookcases filled with just old DAW paperbacks, I really dig a lot of the old art. Frazetta is my favorite.

And if both men and women are slaves in these books there should be nothing to be upset about.
