Reminds me that I was playing with transistors, and I made my first detector-radio, and then a simple regenerative AM-receiver. and I touched some good science stuff long before I f~~~ed any girl … (I first f~~~ed roughly at the time when I first published first article, at age 24 -no correlation between the two – … while others were still partying, and not knowing what to do with life. )

I bought my first oscilloscope on my spare money at age 20, while others spent their money on parties. Parties are boring and useless for an introvert. I can play NFS or some FPS video game and drink beer alone and be more happy.

While everyone else was doing the mainstream bulls~~~ and using computers to brag about bulls~~~ on social media, I was playing with some high voltage sparks, my Tesla coil was able to make circa 8 cm (~ 3″) sparks, and light up the fluorescent tube from a meter as a lightsaber. And used computer to program stuff, wrote my first genetic algorithm just for fun and to help me placement of components on the elecric circuit boards.

Here goes a big part of my youth:

AFN Frankfurt 873 KHz, 150 KW daytime… Location Frankfurt Weisskirchen.

This used to be the main U.S. pop music outlet heard all over Europe.

Shows like Casey Kasem, Dick Clark, Wolfman Jack, Charlie Tuna… in the 1980’s.

Until it became the AFN Power Network “Talk” format in the 1990’s.

Switched off in 2013.

I also picked this one up with my first detector in 1979 and it was interfered by 1017 kHz “SWF 1” from Mainz… And so I built a better (and active) receiver with more gain and selectivity.
