KM…. We’ve got a lot of men joined up but still in ‘spectator’ mode. If you’re still not letting new members join can we at least activate some of these accounts? They’ve been waiting a long time.

The platform and space is provided by us (and a small team of techs who assist in keeping it going ), but the “running” of it is fundamentally yours as much as it can be. Do not be alarmed about that!! I know what it is.

There are a series of keywords ( and tech phrases ) that the server may “reject” when posting in the forums.
Even though they are totally harmless in the forums.

Words and terms like “D U M P” . . . . or “D E L E T E” . . . or “S E L E C T F R O M” . . . or something like “Q U E R Y” will cause the server to MAYBE respond with a 500 error because these terms are known database commands. Posting them in sentences in the forums do not cause harm, but the server thinks they may.

Previously, our technicians set the forums to ignore this list of keywords from being thought of as potentially malicious attempts on the database. Recent upgrades and core changes probably re-implemented the “warning” concern. I’ll make sure to contact the team and have them tell the website to allow these words and phrases from kicking out an error.

It’s not a bad thing. It’s just inconvenient. If you posted something containing a trigger word, the forums MAY reject it. Just altering your post will allow the post. I’ll make sure the tight restriction is lifted Wednesday so nothing is interpreted as “bad”.

I also experienced a 500 error just now,…. when posting the last 4 replies above as one.
Separating them did the trick. Maybe there’s another security precaution that needs to be lifted.

Already did for any who wrote to request it recently.

The order in which we did things needed to be done in sequence.

• Make sure everyone can cancel and delete their account (very important – now done for all )
• Honor any pending delete / cancel requests and inform them of the new feature(s) (very important – now done for all )
• Let it run and make sure it works allowing members to leave if they want.
• Now honor any pending request to participate
• Create the ability to automate the process of becoming a participant
• Update the privacy page to make sure everyone knows what’s new and there is no great “conspiracy” and give them peace of mind.

• Restore the contact page ( tomorrow ) with information and links for anyone contacting about all of the above.

^^ this way, many of the contact requests will be eliminated because they will now have the information and ability to do it themselves ^^

The contact requests became IMPOSSIBLE to manage with any efficiency. Every time we started to handle an influx of email requests, it just got larger and NOTHING would get done. We were always behind and the hamster wheeling was out of control.
