I just opened the print edition of WIRED magazine(April 2019) and inside the cover on what would be page 2 &3 is a HUGE ad from Gillette.
On page 2 it says “Every Hero Sweats.” and there is a picture of a young man in military camo with his son at his side. They are cheek to cheek. Below this pic is a stick of Gillette deodorant. On page 3, is a detailed account of how Gillette has partnered with the non-profit organiation .Operation Homefront which supports military families.
AGAIN on page 3 is a pic of a military man in camo with his son on his chest. That is about 1/4 of page 3.
The OTHER 3/4 of page 3 is about how effective Gillette’s hydra-gel deodorant is; using 3 bullet points to show the advantage over “other” deodorants. At the top of page 3 is a strip across the page saying”To Protect and Serve.”
Now I ask you………
Does this seem like damage control from their “toxic Masculinity: ad ???
I haven’t seen this in the electronic version of WIRED mag,it has a completely different format than the print version.Your Thoughts ?
Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)
Sounds like typical pandering to me. Trying to give you the impression that you’re a good caring person if you buy this deodorant. Or that using this deodorant will keep you smelling as good as our military?
As far as it being damage control? Nah, just standard advertising. Probably been in the works before the release of their other ads.
Ok. Then do it.
Doesn’t matter. I refuse to buy their products because of their toxic masculinity ad. They aren’t sorry that they offended men. They are sorry that it was recognized and called out by so many men.
Feminism isn't about equality with men, it's about leverage over men.
Does this seem like damage control from their “toxic Masculinity: ad ???
buwahwahhaha! You nailed, Damage Control.
TOO LATE GILETTE> Im glad they are feeling the hurt! Proctor & Gamble lost THOUSANDS of lifetime clients that day their Misandric Video hit.
Here it is in case you never saw it! Gillette wants you to “get woke” LMAO!
I have ceased buying all Proctor Gamble products since then.DONT BUY ANY OF THIS SH.IT

Your Thoughts ?It is clearly damage control/pandering. Clearly. No company thats f~~~ed up like they did doing this is not doing it to rehab their image. F~~~ em.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
Trust me Narwhal, they felt that blow. 10,000 men suddenly NOT buying all those products in that picture above.
Im only 1 man. I reckon I was spending about $100 a month on that stuff: Crest, Dawn, Tide, Gillette and Bounty.
You multiply $100 by 10,000 (to be modest) that is One MIllion right there, fewer sales. It affects when Grocers buy more, its SLOWS their revenue and also hurts it. They EFFED UP bigtime.
12 million a year, FOREVER! Lost business. I will NEVER go back.
They dont get it. IM SICK TO DEATH OF SEEING MISANDRY ON TV! I have absolutely had it.
Maybe I am taking this too much at face value…. but seems like they are trying to tie being a good man (previous advertisement) and military service (current advertisement) together.
So apparently a good man is self sacrificing for a country and culture that hates everything about him…. I may be wrong but given their recent advert history it is the only conclusion I can make.
Yeah…. f~~~ that. No offense meant to service members, but as far as I see it serving in the current setup makes no sense. It may be the last bastion of masculinity or some crap like that but to die for a country and population that wants nothing more of you than your death it doesnt make sense.
During WW2 era when they were respected and their sacrifices were appreciated that was one thing. But in the current system it is expected.
Course consider the current young generations think socialism is a good thing….. which probably says more about the public education indoctrination they receive than what they think or their lack of thought.
Hope that someday I may lead others the path I have learned. As Virgil led Dante through Hell.
No offense meant to service members,
none taken.
Most boys don’t enlist to “serve their country and be ‘patriots'” they signed up because you get a rifle and license to kill.
You think I give a s~~~ about city-slickers who jumped out of the Towers? Okay, I do a little! LOL God bless ’em.
I signed up for the Marine Corps in 2004 because I wanted to wax towel-heads.Joining the Service is an adventure, a bragging right. Its also fun to go camping and see sh1t blown up and also to use machine guns. Everything in life carries a RISK of death, its just that being enlisted carries a larger risk LOL.
Id go back today and “Proudly Serve my Country” …
if it means I get paid to smoke Camelf$%kers with an M-249 then count me in!

I never said it didn’t. I just don’t think this mag ad is damage control. If it is, it’s a crappy attempt at damage control. Besides that, they never backed off their statements. Left leaning organizations tend to stick by their statements, sometimes even doubling down, when faced with opposition. I picture the board thinking “what’s wrong with this people? why don’t they understand?” instead of “my god, what the hell did we just do?”
Ok. Then do it.
maybe yer right, maybe they already had that Ad in the pipeline before their “woke” video went out. Who knows.
They’re too big to topple but atleast a lot of men like me weren’t kidding, we buy the other brand now…
I think it is damage control.
lotsa reasons why:
#1 Just what narwhal said in the post above.
#2 a 2 page ad ?? let’s face it: advertising is big BUKK$ ! Why run a 2-page ad when a single page will do?
#3 the second page: a MAN and his SON. bonding ………….. right below it a stick of Gillette deodorant(there’s a message there)
#4 to support #3 why a MAN & son? Why not a woman and her child(male or female) ?? Don’t females sweat and serve too ??
#5 the duplicity of a 2nd pic on page 3
#6 Hey look! We’re supporting a good cause ! (Operation Homefront)I do think it is damage control. The timing is right to run such an ad. It was done somewhat discreetly in a mag geared toward young men and only in print.
I don’t believe in co-incidence.Hey if you can’t sell razors sell deodorant. (typical marketing strategy called substitution)
And I don’t buy P&G.
Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)
To protect and serve the s~~~ out of you.
ANGER IS GOOD,
Can you imagine if all those f~~~ed over vets got out their ass, formed a militia and started going africa war lord in the US?
HOLY S~~~, THAT WOLD BE AWESOME.
but rather die in misery than becoming a monster, pussies.
Unfortunatelly i wasnt trained to kill, too bad.
To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.
Gillette hates men. They can go F.UCK THEMSELVES.
We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham
I don’t need Gillette to tell me how to shape my behaviour, to tell me what THEY think I should be.
F~~~ you Gillette.
I'm going my own way. Maybe I'll see you there.
To protect and serve the s~~~ out of you.

killing comes naturally. you f~~~ing know that, youre already a natural.

same here. I have some of their Costco disposable crap which by the way, don’t last for s~~~. won’t be buying their razors anymore. F~~~ you gillete. I’m a toxic male. which means I actually have some b~~~~ and act like a man should. didn’t know that was a crime, until now.
The best way to f~~~ with these companies is to not buy their products. let them hurt where it counts.
God bless peace and freedom.
They’re too big to topple but atleast a lot of men like me weren’t kidding, we buy the other brand now…
not necessarily. where’s zenith. where’s Magnavox. sears? innovation will kill off the older gorillas. if enough men boycott gllette, trust me, they would suffer greatly.
God bless peace and freedom.
