Gentlemen, today I Post stating what wonderful day of it has been for me. And I wish to share it hoping it will inspire others to seek their own happiness. Getting dirty is a way men can get happy.

Today I hand tilled my garden in under the sun for several hours. I worked the earth with a 1ft. rake for hours tilling the weeds back in and loosening the dirt for the produce to come and it was one other most satisfying things I have done recently. The garden I worked was roughly 55ft. by 18ft. There were rocks, grubs, scrap metals and other bits to be pulled from it. Along with slightly varying soil consistencies to be experienced, telling me I needed to X or Y to the soil or plant X or Y here. What a plethora of information about my garden I gained by working the soil by hand rather than machine. Also quite an appreciation of machine I reacquired. I had quite a bit of time to think, as it took several hours to complete. Afterward I fabricated a disk out of the same rake, a rock and a dethatcher. The later caught the weeds loosened and I was then able to remove said weeds. I limped the garden tractor to working order and had it pulling the homemade disk system shortly. Following that was a motorcycle ride that was quite nice.

The first thing to come to mind for me was that there would be much less drama in the work place if folks worked their own garden. Working one’s own garden brings satisfaction and a connection to the land that people tend to lack in general. That alone would leave much drama out of the workplace if many others did the same. And quite frankly the soil here is mostly clay and it was not easy work, I have much sunburn and blisters to prove it. The exhaustion from it alone renders work place drama completely useless. At the end of such a day one is tired accomplished and happy with all that has happened.

If all the manginas and c~~~s out there worked their own garden it would be a much more peaceful and content world and work place. From the fields of Soylent, I wish accomplishment to all. Find your own “garden” what ever it may be and enjoy. Get dirty and get happy! It is up to each own to cultivate their happiness. Cultivate happiness not misery. Live well fellow MGTOW’s!

And extra tip: it helps to drink beer or whatever afterward as a reward to yourself for a hard day.

Congratulations! It is true that having an object of any kind that requires your care and attention tends to bring out the best in all of us; younger people (myself included) are growing up in an age where the only “object” we have is a screen and the only attention it needs is a battery charge from time to time.

It won’t be too long until you see the fruits of your labor. Best of luck to you SoylentGeneration.

I have to agree there is no better feeling than looking after a crop and watching it grow and mature. I have grown a few great crops of lovely smokeable tomato plants over the years and the feeling of joy around harvest time is something else.

Unfortunately, it also eventually turns into in Maranoia: the unsetling feeling that you are about to run out of weed !

I wonder if that’s true. I’ve had nothing but this laptop. I lived in an apartment: no pets or gardens.

an object that requires care and attention is an interesting way to describe the phenomenon. when I exercise and put care and attention to my muscles. if I don’t exercise, I soon see the consequences. the same idea applies to my writing. if I don’t read or write for a while, I start to write poorly.

I do feel good exercising and writing, but these activities probably yield small fruits that I’m probably not appreciating much.

nonetheless, going outside is very uplifting sometimes. today I was feeling tired, but then I took a walk and felt a lot less tired. there’s something about the open air that really affects me, especially after being locked in a room for hours.

I agree. There are few things more satisfying than washing off the dirt accumulated by a day’s good, hard work. And when you go to sleep at night, you feel like you’ve earned it.

I spend my days at a desk writing software. Last year I bought several acres of adjoining property. I get more of a sense of satisfaction out of clearing walking trails than I do writing software.

I highly recommend it. Worth it, last years produce was better than anything I could find in he stores.

I really feel like I earned it this morning, tell you what it kicked my ass but I’d do it again for sure.

It is good work, and walking your own trails has to be very satisfying.

I laughed a good bit there. I had an early gardening experience with those when I was younger.
