Future Divorce Rate

I see a lot of articles these days about the anger, hatred and distrust that the the Millennial Generation has for the Baby Boomers and vice versa which got me to thinking about how Gen Y, Gen X and the Boomers all differ from one another in terms of relationships. Currently the divorce rate is over 51%. I am 31 years old and have already seen many people my own age (all women of course) get divorced in their mid 20s. Some are on their second marriages already.

We all know men are not getting married nearly as much as they once did but I wonder what the divorce rate will be in 10-15 years as Gen X and Gen Y hit their 40s and 50s respectively. Will we see a massive spike in that divorce rate to maybe 65%? I can only imagine some young narcissist and selfish woman of 25 today would have a hard staying married until she is 35. Heck the one article I read stated that the Millennial Generation has an attention span on average of 8 seconds and that the upcoming Generation Z, those born after 1995, have an attention span of 4 seconds!

I bet traditional marriage in 75-100 years will be a relative thing of the past as social norms, family traditions and religion that preach those expectations are dying out.

I have heard, but seen no data, that divorces in the >50 y.o. are spiking. The silver divorces if you will.

The divorce rate percentage wise will increase but it will be because homosexuals will be getting married and Lesbians have a higher divorce rate than heterosexual couples.

The divorce rate percentage wise for straight couples will probably decrease as I think we are already seeing a shift back to more conservative thinking.

You raise an interesting point, Bunker. I would imagine that many millennial men are so disgusted with their lot that they will opt out of society as much as possible. If this means fewer marriages and births, so be it. If it means a declining national GDP as young men decide to not support the gynocentric society via wealth transfers, well, that seems logical. As a GenXer, I will be happy to lead this particular charge.

As a millennial, I can say that you sir, are correct. It is my main goal in life to make just enough money so I can retire early and then live abroad where the cost of living is much cheaper.

If I follow the new “traditional” path feminist would have me follow, I’ll be getting married in my mid 30s to a post wall whore, getting divorce raped in my early 40s, shelling out big bucks for child support and alimony until I’m 60, then hoping I can stash some money away for a few years so I can retire on a little more than social security.

Why would I want to do that when the alternative is I can probably just retire around 40 instead of having to slave away an extra 20 years of my life just to fork it all over to some woman who was kind enough to let me be the 27th c~~~ to enter her beat up vagina. Sometimes I wish I was born 100 years ago and I’d have been happily married off by 22 and having kids shortly after, and once I was married it would have been for life to a woman who hadn’t blown a decade slutting around, but todays rules f~~~ing suck and I’m not playing the game.

Let me jump in here; and let me apologize not for the mansplaining. The subject of divorce rates has interested me for some time, but I have come to realize that my obsession with it actually amounts to a hill of beans. Here is why I say this.

Divorce rates took an enormous jump as more and more states/countries enacted no-fault legislation. You no longer had to have proof of infidelity, abandonment, or irreconcilable differences. Women were more than happy to get rid of the husband and sign up for welfare/alimony. This intern resulted in an equally huge jump in single mothers on the dole and Common Law arrangements where men could circumnavigate the divorce laws.

In response government agencies have stepped in with revised legislation which has been increasingly more and more onerous with the design/aim to capture, those (men) who were smart enough to circumvent the previous laws. They have even enacted legislation to capture same sex unions, and the fall out from gay divorces. So even though the divorce rate has been increasing and is expected to continue to increase, the efforts to avoid the financial repercussions have been repeatedly thwarted by more and more stringent legislation. Even though divorce rates have increased, the increase in same sex and Common Law marriages have kept pace and filled the gap; meaning just as many couples are residing as husband and wife.

The problem is human biology. For some reason, men continue to want steady sex and women continue to want security to raise a brood of kids. But biology rules. These unions aren’t meant to last forever, and the state doesn’t want to be left holding the bag (supporting single mothers and their children).

A major real problem is that female cheating and dissatisfaction have been one of the main driving forces of increasing divorce rates. With the onset of third wave feminism, the amount of female cheating has sky-rocketed, and with proliferation of social media, far more detectable. The fact is that women cheat just as much as, if not more than, men is now a proven fact. You had to have been an idiot not to have asked the question who the hell were all these men supposedly cheating with if not women. Women also harbour fantasy lives, and when things get tough and men don’t fulfil their fatasies, they start looking elsewhere for the “their so called needs”. There ability to do so has gotten easier with no-fault divorce and women in the work force. But guess what. The amount of paternity fraud has remained relatively constant (about 12%) for decades.

There are two things going on here. That is the marriage rate is declining with more and more couples either opting for something other than marriage or couples getting married later in life. At the same time the divorce rate is increasing. But remember that they are two separate cohorts (not contemporaneous; the group of people marrying are younger than the group of people divorcing). One has to be careful when viewing the statistics. If people are not marrying then the number of marriages that end in divorce will automatically also go down. The fact that the divorce rates are in fact climbing while the marriage rate is falling should be an alarming statistic for any government.

That is why governments are constantly playing catch-up. Consequently even if divorce rates are increasing it matters a hill of beans, if the rules are getting tougher. The only way men can get free of the legislative raping of their finances, is by avoiding women all together.

I guess you didn’t hear there is a waiting list on lesbian divorces as they divorce at a higher rate than gay men and the state won’t finalize the divorce until they find a man to f~~~ over for every woman who gets divorced.

I don’t think divorce rate will climb so much, just because the number of marriages will be low and lower.
Maybe 10-15 years from now the divorce rate will be ten points lower, 41% instead of 51%, but marriages will be less than an half of actual marriages.
My kid is 12 yo: he do not even say “marriage”, he say “I’ll never cohabite with a woman, because alimonies”.
Three days ago a female classmate sent him a love letter. He said he’ll play with her, but no way she can manipulate him. Seriously. Half of the boys in his classroom are more or less like him, though he’s the most “extremist” – but nobody knows what he really thinks, his feminist professor even think he’s the best guy in the class…and he mock her…
In Italy birth rate during 2015 has reached its historical lower, and given there are immigrants who have 3-4 children per couple, newspapers are saying it’s a “worrying” trend 😀

Haha nice. I didn’t catch on to how f~~~ed things were until my late 20s. Although things seem a lot more f~~~ed today than they were 20 years ago when I was your sons age…its great to see the next generation of men is realizing the system is rigged against them at such a young age. I just wonder how long its going to for those young women to catch on they are royally f~~~ed when more and more men continue to go monk or want them for nothing but a female empowering pump and dump.

It would be real interesting if in about a 30 year period we shift from a period where so many women got to ride the carousel til they hit the wall, find a sucker to marry/make babies/put himself in a position to become meal ticket via state enforcement, divorce rape said sucker, and hop back on the carousel to a period where most men refuse marriage, cohabitation, or reproduction because as your son so eloquently puts it, alimonies.
