I’m not religious, found it bulls~~~ ever since I was 6 years old or so, and I turned out a good guy, despite what religious people will say… “you’re going to hell for not believing in god”, “you are an awful person”, etc etc.

I follow one rule, which I’ve taken from (half) a line from the movie Roadhouse: “be nice”, that’s all! Be nice, and people will be nice to you. If they aren’t, don’t give them another thought.

I once came up with some sort of a nerdy idea, though. You don’t live once, but many, many times, and each time you die, you take all the information you gathered during a life back to your hard drive, store it, and wait to be reborn to gather more information. When you harddrive is full, you ascend to the next level. I know, sounds silly, but it’s something, and none of the threats of going to hell!

After attending church and been bright up in a Lutheran-Protestant home (most common in my country), my views have always been on the skeptical side. Logic alone would say that God wouldn’t bother with humans once they’ve been created, to let them live life and suffer the consequences for good/bad choices. So, I’ve always been what is termed Agnostic. It does not mean I disbelieve in a God, but that a human can’t prove/disprove the existence of a God. In any case, I’ve always lived to the same motto as Nerevar, be nice to people, and if they don’t return the favor. Dissmiss them like the people they are. Because they’re obviously not worth spending your most precious thing we have – time – on.

Maybe it’s also a bit of why I’m against religious wars, as part of my ancestry was driven from Europe (France) due to religious strife (rather, persecution) that occurred between Catholics and Protestants. Seeing it happening back in the 80’s in Northern-Ireland made me sick to my stomach watching it the news from a stable and peaceful country. And that’s why religion should always be a strict personal thing, and any politicization should be seen as divisive and dealt with. This includes Islam specifically, if they can’t conform to peaceful, secular behaviors (even when becoming large numerically), then they should be sent back to their s~~~holes they came from.

I was forcibly crammed into a car and forced to attend 3 hour long Pentecostal services as a child two to three times a week. I tried my best to resist. These f~~~ers just loved it, but it was sheer torture for a seven year old boy.

I think it’s why I don’t really like church. I don’t do dogma. I attended a Baptist kindergarten and proved the teacher wrong when when she teaching us that the entire world flooded covering the even highest mountain top during our Noah’s ark inculcation. I still remember the look on her face when she realized a five year old had her logically boxed on the subject. I asked where the water went to after the flood, and she told me the oceans opened up to drain it. I then asked her where it came from before that perplexing her. I just had to account for that massive spherical volume of water that could even cover even Mt. Everest. She just went on with the lesson.

I was always a little heretic. I never believed in Noah until they proved the Black Sea was a fresh water lake during neolithic times that flooded with salt water as the sea levels rose. I can understand a man building a raft to save his animals when he anticipated the breech. He most definitely was mocked. I always wondered how he got the llamas too.

I also love f~~~ing with Christians who believe the Earth to be 4XXX years old. Don’t even get me started on The Rapture. I’ll let Brother Nathanael handle it from here:

THANK you for the post, I wanted to start one about related topics.

Lately I have seen a good doc on Scientology, it is called “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief”, I would advice anyone to watch it, because it is very interesting for the ones that knows almost nothing about those people.

The interesting thing is that, I see the same patterns in other religions, the same “scams” with messages that are pure fiction built by who knows who in the past centuries until now.

I think that there is a common line in religions and why and how people go for it, I would advice Religulous from Bill Maher aswell.

I totally disagree, there has been so much greediness with religions that it is almost embarassing, and it is not only greediness it is a pure scam, make the other people work for 4 cents or even for free, brainwashing them into thinking that it is for the good of god and for the good of the whole humanity. Right now there are millions of religious people that eat, sleep and f~~~ thanks to the money that they make from donations, workers, commercial activities, and avoiding taxes due to special laws from the states.

Taking advantage of someones “faith” and then using an argument of religion as a cause, is paradoxical . Generally something exclusive can not be mutually dependent, on itself.

In terms of greed your explanation finds itself an actuality as using faith favorable to someone in a superior position that is greedy, absent of being religious since they only see it as something to be used.

I think in terms of a cause , greed causes someone to exploit others through a means.

Since beilief in God is a natural inclination it was only a matter of time until a “politician” existed.

Politics has its grass-roots at manipulation .

But how can you say it’s bulls~~~ if you don’t even know whether there is a God or not? Nobody knows. All of us are going to find that out at some point.

I’m privately a very devout Christian. We have to be able to poke as Jesus did which is exactly what landed him in hot water.

One neighbor freaked out when I told her The Rapture was invented by a man in 1820, and she also believes the Earth is like 4800 years old. I love f~~~ing with Southern Baptists’ heads. I can shoot down the 4800 year old thing with multiple lines of logical attack. Yet, they still stick there heads in the sand. My favorites are the ones who say God is tricking us.

I will call out any religious hypocrisy. My father once punched me in the face for questioning some Catholic doctrine. I am the most Virgin Mary respecting heretical Christian you’ll ever meet though due to that somewhat pulled punch from a trained boxer.

I question everything by my very nature. It p~~~es people off sometimes. NFG….

It does hurt to see the bad things done throughout time and presently in the name of the faith.

There are many Christians outside of the church and corporate institutions like myself that get a lot of heat from them too. We just live our lives quietly, try to help behind the scenes and keep a low profile.
