You realize that is literally impossible, right? The average number of partners for each is going to be the same…its just with the 80/20 rule you are going to have a handful of guys with high numbers while most have low numbers, while with women its a more even distribution.
That depends on how you define sex. If it is vaginal intercourse,then yes, it’s impossible. However, if it define by sexual touching, having an orgasm, or something else, the average could very well be different between the sexes. For one thing, I would think the volume of female/female encounters would be higher than male/male, so that would skew the numbers. My guess would be that this comes for a survey where sex isn’t clearly defined, so you’d have even further skewing of the numbers. A man is likely to define sex as intercourse, excluding BJs and other stuff, while a woman may very well include those activities in her count. And of course, it’s a poll question, so people could easily lie, or the sample isn’t very indicative of society as a whole.
As for the original article reporting sexual activity between men and women, it’s also a poll and therefore likely flawed. I would guess that the change may even been more from men no longer choosing to lie on these polls, while women’s level of truthfulness has remained the same. For a question that is so stigmatized as defining your worth, it’s entirely possible that men and women lie subconsciously about their sex lives just to protect their own ego. Unless you are deeply religious and surrounded by those who share those views on abstinence, MGTOW, or trying to claim your a victim because people aren’t having sex with you, the answer you want to give is Yes. I’d actually think that there is even less going on that the data suggests for that reason.
That said, I would be interested in seeing the distribution. It would be interesting to see if a small set of men are having most of the sex, even distribution for women, etc. Also be interested in seeing what factors influence sex the most, such as money, looks, availability, etc. Really difficult to get accurate info though.

A couple things that jumped out to me in the article that haven’t really been discussed.
1. Young men are more likely to live with their parents than young women. Really? Why? Because…..patriarchy? I thought it was a man’s world and yet it’s much more likely that 20-something women are able to afford to live on their own than it is for a young man. Boy, it’s ALMOST like we’re being lied to.
2. 30% of men under the age of 30 reported that they did not have sex last year. Our author, professor Jean Twenge (I assume a woman) attributes this to, among other things, the number of young men in the labor force. The survey showed 54% of unemployed Americans did not have a steady relationship vs. 32% of employed Americans. So, guys can’t get a girlfriend without a job? So, women only go after guys with money? That sounds a lot like prostitution to me. I thought women were the emotional ones, it turns out that they are the cold calculating ones. Boy, it’s ALMOST like we’re being lied to.
3. Living with your parents is a factor when you’re living with them it’s probably harder to bring sexual partners into your bedroom. But wait! Judy has her own place! So, that means that she doesn’t want to bring you back to her place. Why do you suppose that is? Certainly not because she has other sexual partners and doesn’t want you to see any clues.
4. So, it’s more likely that a guy is unemployed than it is a woman. And we can see that because women are more likely to have a place of their own in their 20’s. And 54% of unemployed Americans did not have a steady relationship. It’s safe to assume then that the 54% not in a relationship is more men than women. Also, it’s easier to for a woman to unemployed and be in a relationship because most men primarily look at appearance and someone you can at least stand to be around. At the end of the day, this is just another story about hypergamy. Nothing new to see. Gold-diggers dig for gold. It’s what they do.

The know that women are attracted to someone who’s financially responsibly, and that delayed gratification is the best way to go. Women don’t look at it that way. They have no need to think of the future, they’ll just enjoy now. Bagging a wallet is the goal.

For those who don’t think sex starts at a young age for women and high partner counts happen quick, here is a quick story I’ll always remember…
When I was in 6th grade (obviously long time ago) there was one particular day when it was pouring outside so outside recess for lunch was not allowed. They think its some girl power “I’m not waiting any longer for no man to buy me a house” moment, when in reality its just a ton of wasted money. You’re starting to see the first hints of that in advertising as companies realize where the money still is. It used to be a lot easier to market to women because they’ve always been much freer with their disposable income (usually actually credit). They’re easy marks. But as their collective supply of disposable income is drying up, companies are waking up to the fact that it’s older men who actually have real disposable income to spend. This is why if you look closely at advertising, you’ll see it’s increasingly targeted at younger and younger women (who still have credit) and sometime at older men (who have accumulated assets).
I have a friend in advertising who constantly bemoans how difficult it’s becoming to advertise to men since they’ve essentially walked away from media and are smart enough to run ad blockers on the internet. I’m glad that’s not my problem.

Haha…that is what I was thinking when you suggested look closely at advertising. I haven’t had any sort of cable or satellite tv for as long as I’ve been living on my own, no social media, and no newspaper or magazine subscriptions. When I’m browsing the web I pretty much just block out advertising on the side of my screen…I know its there, but it doesn’t really register. When I’m watching videos that run ads…its just 30 seconds to lean over and pet my dog, or I’m at a computer and can multitask and do more than one thing at a time, so its just an opportunity to minimize a window and do something else til the ad is over.
The only advertising that really has an effect on me is controversial advertising that makes headlines in the news…like the Nike Kaepernick deal, or the Gillette man hating commercial. When you get this sort of controversial advertising though, generally its something that makes me boycott products, not buy.
