The article(1) “Florida Bar Association’s Family Law Section says it no longer supports alimony-reform bill it helped write” discusses a Alimony-Reform bill which Florida Legislature had approved, but was Vetoed by Gov. Rick Scott.
The article plays on the old believe that women that receive alimony “gave up working for years to raise children and help their former husbands excel in their careers.” Okay, I’m going to take a tactical pause right here for a second. First, again, as most authors do, this individual stated this purported fact as truth, without any circumstantial fact, evidence, or numbers to strengthen her statement. In the Article “Women are more likely to initiate divorce”(2), Author Yanna Wang found that 69 percent of the time, women initiated the divorce. Further reading reveals Michael J. Rosenfeld of Stanford Universities Dept. of Sociology conducted the initial research(4).The follow up article entitled “Gov. Rick Scott vetoes controversial alimony bill”(3)quotes him as saying “Current law directs a judge to consider the needs and interests of the children first when determining a parenting plan and time-sharing schedule,” Scott’s veto letter says, according to NSF. “This bill has the potential to upend that policy in favor of putting the wants of a parent before the child’s best interest by creating a premise of equal time-sharing. Our judges must consider each family’s unique situation and abilities and put the best interests of the child above all else.”(5) I get the feeling that what he is really saying is “It’s the courts job to stir up controversy amongst the couple so that the lawyers and judge can continually seek more money for their services. Where there is a lack of confusion, anger, and distrust, their is a lack of opportunity for us to line our pockets and justify their existance”.

Funny, isn't it? How women thrive on a mans time, attention and resources, while simultaneously telling him he isn't enough...

Alimony and child support are not connected one can exist without the other.
A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!

I didn’t even catch that, and you are absolutely right. There is a difference, or at least there should be, but I can see how they would either attempt to make it one and the same, or search for whatever reason they can to not pass anything that is of benefit to the majority of men. I don’t know if they’re passing and vetoing laws out of complete ignorance, if they are trying to line their pockets, or simply appeal to the mass majority of women for votes. Quite honestly, “what’s best for him/her/the kids” is a cop-out in my opinion. Doing what’s right for the party that is most-capable of providing suitable, stable living conditions with minimum impact to their day to day living should be paramount. That’ll be the day when we see that kind of thinking take precedence among politicians though…
