Naw. It’s merely a load of s~~~ty sensationalist “science journalism”.

Most popular science journalism is absolute s~~~, and this is no exception. They take one thing from the submission to a proper scientific journal, ignore all context, misinterpret it into the most attention grabbing hyperbole possible, and then splash that everywhere hoping to sell articles. They’d be just as happy publishing an article that the first Chinese were purple if they found a journal submission that merely mentioned it as a possibility.
