Yeah, but they’re not going to admit that. They want more female representation in business, STEM, and other areas that were traditionally male, so here’s a goal for those aspirations. You go, girl!

When I say to women to create their own spaces, I’m implying that their desire for those spaces isn’t my responsibility. If they can’t build it, the responsibility doesn’t revert to men.

A female coworker told me about women’s desire to lean in at the workplace, and quickly added that they don’t want men to lean out. That part about men was apparently crucial, as if she expected it to happen. I forget exactly how I replied, but I made the point that I’m a free agent living my own life.
