My 15 daughter had a soccer scrimmage today against a team of 14 year old boys. It was interesting to say the least.

The boys kicked the girls’ asses, as you would expect. They didn’t let up, they knocked the girls down, they played their asses off and creamed the girls. They even kept playing when the ball went out of bounds by only a foot or two (there were no refs), and at one point the ball went out the endline and the boy was only about 5 feet away from it. He circled away from it and made one of the girls run about 20 yards to get the ball for the goalie.

As a dad, it seemed stupid to play any team that much better. I don’t even think they ever got a shot on goal. I didn’t see what benefit the girls got out of it.

As a man, it was interesting to watch the 14 year old boys treat the girls as equals and hand them their ass.

The only thing that bothered me a little was the parents of the boys cheering for the 8th goal like they just won a tournament. I’m pretty quite when my daughter’s team is killing another team. It just seems a little poor sportsmanship to rub salt in the wounds of a team that shouldn’t be out on the field with another team. And this was a scrimmage, not even a real game. But whatever, to each his own.

When we got in the car I asked my daughter if she had fun. “No. We got creamed. They were way better than us.” My response? “Yeah, they were.”

Allways be a gracious winner.I guess im old school. I think its absurd for male and females to compete like that.If the boys loose there whimps. If they win there bullys.

Nothing wrong with cheering your team on if they’re thrashing another team. I’d cheer as loud for the 12th goal as I did for the 3rd, so to say.

Good thing your daughter didn’t start whining about things being unfair, looks like you’re doing a good job at parenting!

The Aussie female Olympic soccer team got their asses handed to them by a U16 boys team.

Yet they want to be paid the same amount as the adults men’s Olympic team.

However, at your kids level, they should have put in the 3rd string, their is no value in humiliating other kids. However, part of me wants to teach them a lesson.

schools push feminist ideas like boys and girls are equal.
    we all know they aren’t.
a shame to match these kids up in an unfair way…
but, hey, the schools going to push these ideas.
if i was a parent of one of the girls i would be complaining.
    schools..
    supposed to teach .
what the f~~~ did the kids learn from that ?
maybe that boys and girls aren’t equal..
    they are DIFFERENT !
    duh……

Just to clarify, it wasn’t a school, it’s her club. And they have tournaments starting in a couple weeks over the summer. They were just looking for a little game simulation against someone other than themselves.

The game was fine, it wasn’t as rough as some of her regular games. I only posted it because I thought it was interesting that the boys treated them as equals and played very intensely. There was no let up because they were girls.

I just felt bad for boys’ keeper. He got no game simulation whatsoever.

For the record, it only took my daughter about two minutes to bury her face in her phone and start texting her friends, so I think she got over it pretty quickly.

I’m more of Old Sage’s age, and in our day you wouldn’t have wanted to play the girls. You’re a bully if you win and pathetic if you lose, just like he said. Today’s school kids don’t seem to have that problem. So in that respect, it’s a win for feminism. The boys probably don’t hold the door open for anyone either.

    Congratulations, you go girls!!
