Female Customer "Service"

This is a rant, so bear with me…

Just went to the grocery store. Ay the end of the transaction I asked the girl for a pack of smokes, She told me “you can get them over there (self check out line, where I would have to ask ANOTHER clerk for them) its the same THING”.

I replied: Its NOT the same thing. You are being paid to WORK. I am not”. No response from her ass. When I was walking away I heard the dude behind me saying something about a “lack of RESPECT”.

Seriously? Does this kind of s~~~ get under your guys skin too? Bitch is WORKING. Go get it for me.Its NOT the same. And some dude acting as though I have no respect?wtf? I cant even FATHOM telling a customer “get it yourself. Its the same”.

Btw…Im even MORE angry at myswelf because I ended up going to the self check out and getting them on my own.

Its as though we are SO trained to be responsible for our own actions, even after speaking out against an injustice I STILL feel as though I should “take care of myself” and “man up”. NEVER. EVER get so much as an apology from a woman. Its not even an AFTER thought. This was a small example in the grand scale of things, but its the sum total of this s~~~ that adds up.

God. No respect. No apologies. NOTHING.

There are certain jobs in life that if you are older than 22 and still doing, you failed at life.  This woman has failed at life.  There is no changing or saving her.  She probably can’t even do the simple math necessary if her Point of Sales Terminal went down.

I used to think this way, that is if youre of a certain age and still performing certain tasks, then there is something wrong with you.

Ive been on the business end of receiving money, and the wrong end of bills in my life. I seriously now have empathy with those that get paid s~~~.

I HEAR what you are saying, but Ive been on the EXTREME ends of both equations. I dont fault her for her job. I fualt her in her execution of it. THAT was garbage.

I thank you for the reply. I relate to ALL people of ALL wages now, though. Just, at the very LEAST be respectful. That is all I ask of this woman.

“Failing at life”: Im not sure how old you are, but I dont consider ANYONE who is willingly working as “failing at life”.

I appreciate your reply, but ENTIRELY disagree with that synopsis. If youve lived long enough to know, then you understand LIFE isnt entriely in ones control. I respect the fact that she has a job and is willingly working. That is NOT failing at life.

Life is hard s~~~. Not sure what youve been through, but Ive been through a lot.

I certainly didnt make this thread to defened her, but a certain respect for humanity is in order.

I have not noticed a discrepancy in male and female customer service. Then again, I am not so dumb as to purchase cigarettes, so what do I know?

Crappy service from a bitch. In my parts, the clerks always honor the customer’s request whenever they are in the wrong line in the smaller stores where the cigarettes are closer. The larger stores are stricter about it though as the cigarettes could be 40 yards away.

It might be that she was forbidden to leave her station. (It is possible that she would have had to shut down and lock her register first) If true, she should have said so. If not, she should been courteous about it anyway.

I have noticed that brick and mortar stores are bending over backwards to be courteous to customers in these days of online ordering. It is getting rare — probably against strict store policy — to find people who act like she did.

Yeah, no offense, but you did kind of f~~~ up there. You should have left your items cold on the counter, refused to pay for them, and demanded to see her manager right there. Then told him: “If this is how you treat your customers, I’m not giving you my business any more,” and walked the f~~~ out. Make sure to get names. Then write a letter to the corporate headquarters explaining why you are no longer giving them your business and letting them know exactly who is responsible. In this economy they take s~~~ like that VERY seriously, because for every letter they get there are usually hundreds more ex-customers who simply walked away, never to return.

Here is a story from a couple of days ago.  I had bought some eggs and put them in one of those cheap plastic bags. When I go to leave, the bottom of the bag breaks and the carton falls to the counter and two of the eggs break.   So I am like “Can I just go get another carton of these?”, and she responds with “You need to go to customer service.”  Well  I take a look over at CS and realize that there is a friggin line.   So I respond with “Thats Okay, I’ll just take these and starting putting the unbroken eggs in a different bag.”  Well she doesn’t agree with my attitudes at all.. and comes back with “You need to go customer service..”  And she doesn’t let up she just going on an on about how I need to go to customer service.   You know, like I am going to f~~~ around in a line for twenty minutes for two broken eggs.  But in her mind she had given me a command and I needed to comply…

compared to what i have seen in asia (Japan in particular) and even the middle east, people in the west have no idea what good customer service is.  they think it is just service with a smile or positive attitude and most can’t even do that.  it’s pathetic.  but that’s what happens when tips become entitlements.  In Japan, tipping is not allowed and the service is 1000 times better.
