I dunno. I just thought I would make a thread about our favorite board games in case anyone’s interested.

Today I want to talk about Settlers of Catan. Yeah … I know. The game has been overhyped to Hell and back. That’s because the game is good.

Playing the game makes me feel like a simple farmer on an island. It’s a relaxing experience. I usually lose because I don’t attempt to screw over my opponents … because that ruins the feel of the game.

I was always into LEGO® but Risk, Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit were my faves – just by hours played. But Trivial Pursuit gets dated. Last time I played was years ago when I was stuck in a snowstorm with a girlfriend who was much younger. When her question was “Where was Kennedy shot?”…. she said “TED KENNEDY WAS SHOT????”

Risk, Axis & Allies, Shogun, and some older games like Feudal, Dogfight!, and Broadside. I was introduced to these games through my dad and uncles, who played them when they were kids.

Then there were games like Twixt and the old Norse classic, Hnefatafl. And Mancala and Chess. Even Checkers. I played them all, and also the ones mentioned, like Monopoly and Sorry. 🙂

I tried board games just a year ago. Guess, I’m too old for that. Anyway I liked the Power Grid.
Risk and Monopoly will be always in my heart along with the Soviet board games! lol

Great post brother…When I was young I was into Lego’s, Lincoln Logs, Life, Monopoly, Aggravation and such…I guess looking back on that I enjoyed building and creating thing’s, was a blast…Then as I got older, I grew into chess, hearts, cribbage, and pinochle was one I lost hundreds of hours to…Wow…Haven’t played any of those in years though…
OP I have never heard of Settlers of Catan, had to look it up, looks like it would have been fun though…Guess I am dating myself now…After re-reading other posts, I totally forgot about Trivial Pursuit…Wow that was a good one I totally forgot…There was a game like that only a video version you could play in the bars I frequented as a 20 something…Again a long time ago now, Does anyone else remember that??? You were literally playing others all across the country I think…

Not quite a ‘board’ game but I spent countless hours playing dungeons and dragons. I still like monopoly, up words, and Yahtzee
