On average, fathers working full time get a 21% “wage bonus”, the study based on 17,000 workers aged 42, concluded.
Fathers living in Britain with two children earned 9% more than those with just one, says the research by centre-left think tank IPPR for the TUC.
Full-time working mothers of the same age saw a “wage penalty”, earning 11% less than their childless colleagues.
The report said the reasons for the “fatherhood bonus” were not clear, though they were likely to relate to hours worked, increased effort and positive discrimination.

    Causality vs correlation.

I think father work harder to provide better ergo they get bigger raises.

No one checks a box to give dad’s a bigger raise.

Moral of the story come back to the plantation and make more money.

Assuming most fathers have kids when they can afford it, which is rational thinking, most fathers will have more kids when they can afford it too. So, like you said, the causality is being misinterpreted here. Having another kid isn’t going to magically increase your salary or cause your boss to give you a raise/promotion. The men who already earned raises and promotions decide to have more kids. They’re probably older as well.

I bathe in the tears of single moms.

For the love of goodness they cannot have pay based on what you produce??
    What a load of crap.

Pay by productivity – by commission, that’s why new and used car lots are full of women sales people. Because they produce and communicate ! ? 🙁

It’s cute how this article tries to pretend those full time nose to the grindstone fathers get to keep that additional 21%. They don’t.

Meanwhile a single man only earns 83% of what the married man does, but he gets to keep it all, he has more free time in which to enjoy it, he saves more of it, and retires much much earlier in a better financial position.

It’s not just about dollar income. How you spend your very limited hours on Earth for and with that income matters much more.

You nailed it sidecar. I worked in a lower paying librarian job and was able to enjoy the work, live well on the pay, and invest, so that now in retirement, I would bet I have far more in investment worth than those married with or without children. Even before changing careers to a librarian, I could and would often take Wednesday afternoons off in summer to go trout or smallmouth bass fishing. Never heard of any married guy who could pull that off.

Just the thought of having a child right now sounds like a total nightmare at this point. Who in there God damn right mind wants to have children in this God forsaken s~~~ hole we call planet earth.

Who? Women, that’s who. Women don’t think logically. They think emotionally and with their hormones. Who gives a s~~~ if the little crotch goblin can actually have a nice life or if she can afford to take care of it? She DESERVES to be a mother because it will make her FEEL good. It’s f~~~ing ridiculous. Children are a pain in the f~~~ing ass. And without fail, it’s a MAN that ends up paying for the f~~~ing thing.

I’ve had people tell me that married people should be paid more versus single people. The same ones who would dump work on me to go tend to some womb turd’s head cold.

Maybe, this “Fatherhood bonus” is due to a “single man bias”

I prefer to work for the bonuses that I am allowed to continue to own. The fatherhood bonus might get earned by me, and might get paid to me, and I might even be allowed to hold it for a while. But much like that kid to which I am a father, holding it for a brief period is the most that I can expect. It will never be mine…

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

My conclusion was simple, as a woman the lower your income the more likely you are to try to trap a man with a kid. As a man, the higher your income is the more likely you are to have women that want to trap you with a kid.

Higher income women are going to have less kids because they’ll still be hunting for a higher income man they may never find and one day their ovaries dry up and its too late, where as lower income men might not have kids because no gold diggers deem them worthy enough to leech off.
