I can understand this urge as I used to be the exact same way. I believe we are psychologically programmed to not back down and prove our point. Once I reversed this programming, I became much more at peace with everything. I hope you’re able to do the same one day.

Try this next time when asked why you’re not married: fall instantly asleep like Grampa Simpson, mouth agape with drool, snoring contentedly. Pretty much always brings the house down, even your inquisitors can’t help but laugh.

If questions continue when you “wake up”, rinse and repeat until the subject changes or you actually fall asleep. Either way, win-win. Great fun.
