Had a blast playing Fallout 3.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.@ Skeptisk
So how much Fallout 4 have you played now? I’ve got at least 120 hours, and I have completed the main storyline with all the factions except the Minuteman. My main character is level 60 something. I’m taking a break now so I will be fresh when the dlc’s come out. Considering how much you said you played the previous two games, I figured you can probably put my numbers to shame.
So far spent, according to Steam, 573 hours played. 300 of those with my first character siding with the Minutemen. The second character I sided with the Institute, and is my best play so far. What draws me into the game is the music:
Fallout 4 OST – Humanity’s Hope
(played when you’re inside the Institute)
Fallout 4 OST – Hope Remains
(wandering alone in the wasteland…)
Fallout 4 OST – War of Wills
(plays inside the Railroad HQ)Three of the best tracks, IMHO, when it comes to gaming!!!

I’m about 50 hours in and just went through the Glowing Sea which was utterly depressing. Absolutely loving the game and I highly recommend the BBC docu-drama called Threads (should be downloadable for outside of the UK or is about £3 on Amazon) as it is the most shocking thing I have ever watched and really gives you a greater appreciation for the Fallout games
The theme from the trailer is called Dominant Species:
What sold the game to me was the iconic scene starting from 2:10 with the player in the power-armor and minigun shooting the deathclaw in the trailer. Brought tears to my eyes. Power-armor? Deathclaws? Need to cut this short, snot on my keyboard…

only got into The Institute last night (am about 73 hrs in) and that is a good piece of music!
Figured that I wouldn’t rush this character, my 3’rd one. Usually I spent around 300 hours on each characters. So, I decided on focusing on new tactics (VATS and stealth, as opposed to power-armor and brute force). Like all characters, there are some commonalities, I usually try to get Lockpick and Hacking as early as possible, so some of my level-up points are spent this way, though they could just as easily have been spent on Endurance to keep getting better HP’s.
Anyway, I made this screenshot today after finishing and populating the settlement (just 12 out of max. 20 settlers so far and growing). I have set up 5 other settlements so far. The strategy is that I always set up the defense first. As you can see from the pic, the settlement is surrounded by turrets. Not cheap, but the best way to protect them.

Then I add better guns and clothes/armor for each settler. And later on I add vendor-stalls to get caps.

I haven’t gotten into creating settlements. I don’t even have companions with me and just wander the wasteland by myself doing missions when the mood takes me.
Still have loads to see and do and unsure whether to align myself with the institute or brotherhood. I’m on a mission where I am guessing I will have to choose once and for all – long loading times aside it is a 10/10 game for me
I’ll buy Fallout 4 when they come out with the version that’s got all the DLC included at a reduced price.

A financially disciplined gamer I salute you.
Wish I had done that.

Fallout 4 Add-Ons – Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Far Harbor and More
According to Bethesda, they’ve decided to add more DLC’s (and thus increase the price as well), except those who already paid for it already. We’ll get the full pack of DLC’s. I think it’s an incitement to get more gamers getting the game with DLC’s.
Given the expanded DLC plan, the price of the season pass will increase from the current $29.99 to $49.99 USD (£24.99 to £39.99 GBP; $49.95 to $79.95 AUD) on March 1, 2016.
It’s a bit late to get the lowered priced as it expired March 1’st. Reason for the expanded price?
And more important, that this is only the beginning. We have plans for more. More than $60 worth of new Fallout adventures and features throughout 2016.
Given that it’s double the original price, I think they’ll double the number of DLC’s as well.
Some of them are settlement-oriented to add more options and depth of the gameplay; Wasteland Workshop. So, these are the easy things that doesn’t require much development as they’ve already the system set up. Just add more props for building stuff!
Then there are the DLC’s with a lot more depth; Far Harbor. In line with how they’ve done things before, think of the Fallout 3 DLC; Point Lookout.
But the one thing that will roll online next week is; Automatron; and you (the hero) are going to stop Fallout 4’s version of The Mechanist. I don’t think they’ll drop Fallout 3’s version into Fallout 4, as they might want to add a darker version this time around. Wonder if they’ll also add the AntAgonizer, but it’s not likely. The upside is that you’ll gain a new robot companion you can mix-and-match gear, decals, weapons etc.

Very interesting, so I’ll check it out next Tuesday.

I am a big Fallout fan! I loved playing Fallout 3 and have ordered my copy of Fallout 4 and its season pass yesterday. Expecting it to be delivered in a day or two. Got the combo at a super discount over here. I am very excited to get started with the game and the rave reviews it is getting makes me all the more excited!
Well. I just passed 1.100 hours game-play in Fallout 4. I’ve doen the main mission on 2 characters (one for the Minute Men and one with the Institute), and have one character that I’ve come pretty far working the Railroad-pathway.
After trying (and failing the last part of Automatron) on my third character (that hasn’t even done the main mission, or even the Silver Shroud-quest, I decided to drop it for the time being and to return to my first character. I got all companions, all bobbleheads and perk magazines, and have been leveling up to boost it for the Automatron-quest. It has done all main missions, the Institute is gone, and I have upgraded all settlements with defense above 400, and mostly they can make do on their own without my help.
So, I’m almost set for Automatron. Some screenshots to show my character:

Ok, so I made this robot for laughs:

😛
Power armor FTW!

I’m still finishing playthrough of Fallout NV with S.T.E.P. Project mods (overhauls almost everything) and it’s a blast playing an engineer who’s specialized in power armor modifications.
I finished the Automatron DLC with my first character, and the trick is to use power armor.
The error I made with my third character was to enter as an infiltrator, hence not that big defense.
Now I’m ‘upgrading’ my second character to beef up the HP and defense. Not sure when I’ll start Automatron with it yet, only level 87 with it, while my first character is currently at level 118.
Ok, some tips I’ve learned:
The fast way to level up is threefold;
-First, you can gain XP with building settlements (with all the necessary parts; beds, water, food, defense and structures).-Secondly, you can gain XP by crafting ‘Vegetable starch’ by farming for Mutfruit, Tato’s, Corn and pure water. If you have a decent number of settlements, you can simply visit one after another and get those things, which is how I level to 118 on my first toon. I got around 27-28 settlements with that one. The reason to craft Vegetable starch is that when broken down it gives Adhesive, something you need when crafting mods, and it’s quite rare.
-Third, you can gain XP by adding mods to various pieces of armor, weapons etc. The more ‘advanced’ the mods are, the better price you can get from the vendor when selling.
But mostly you gain it by quests and missions. Using settlements to gain XP takes some time, though.
For easy money, you need two things; plastic (1 piece) and Fertiliser (2 pieces); with it you can craft ‘Jet’ and sell it for 35 caps a piece. I have in the excess of 300K caps for my first character, and wish Bethesda could create some ‘investment’-thing with the trade-caravans, maybe 10K caps for added storage so the trader could have a much bigger inventory.

Ok, done Automatron on my two first characters. So, now I am at my 3’rd character.
And they’ll release “Far Harbor” at May 19.
Edit. BTW, I just passed 1.200 hours played, and that’s more hours than I’ve actually worked the past 6 months!

Have been playing Far Harbor, the latest DLC of Fallout 4, and it really blew me away! From the intro, the missions, the music, it’s epic IMHO! So, for some tunes:
Thank God I got the year pass when I pre-ordered the game last year, it’s been worth it. The tune during a minigame through the main quest:

So, a new update from me. This week Bethesda released the “Vault-Tec Workshop” DLC, and though it’s a smallish mission, the underground cave is huge.
There are two exits besides the main entrance (as I never use as I fast travel).
One is the sewage-cover near the intersection besides Milton General Hospital, close to the super-mutants surrounding Fallon’s Department Store and West Roxbury Station. The exit is a ladder.
The second exit is near University Point, it’s the exit of the pharmacy set west of the destroyed settlement of University Point overflowing with synths.
A couple of pointers, use power-armor if you can due to the Radscorpions. And get lots of materials (steel etc.), to make building your Vault faster. I had around 5.5K of it before I started, and I finished one Vault a day. So far I’ve done it for 3 of my characters. But I’ll probably redo some of them, and of course expand! And as with all settlement-building/management, make sure to add firepower to your vault dwellers as the space around the main entrance isn’t huge, and you likely won’t have many turrets there.
So, some pictures.
