Facebook linked to depression among heavy users, new study finds
    http://www.chron.com/life/healthzone/article/Facebook-linked-to-depression-among-heavy-users-ne-6184369.php

Did Facebook make them depressed, or were they depressed to start with and pathologically attracted to Facebook? I suspect it’s the former and that it’s people who look to others for validating their self-worth.

Why should a MGHOW care in the slightest what some stranger on the internet thinks of him? He is immune to this kind of depression.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

I don’t think it is that simple. I think human beings seek validation from other human beings, and Mgtows are not immune to that. The advantage of Mgtows would be that we are more likely to recognize that and work around it. Men seek validation from women, Mgtow recognizes that and see the problem in giving women all that power, so we turn to other men that are like minded. If Mgtow didn’t seek validation (at least to some degree) from fellow humans, I am not sure the Mgtow community would exist at all. After all, we wouldn’t need the know what others thinks, right? The difference is, we can handle it a little bit better when the “validation” is not there, or not there on the desired form. That doesn’t mean Mgtows don’t get depressed over these things, it is just that we seek a more “profound” type of recognition, so we are better equipped when the shallow version of validation is not granted to us.

Just my random thoughts on this matter…

I can personally attest my outlook in life has VASTLY IMPROVED after deleting my Facebook account.

Validation? My boss is paying me money. There’s your validation, I actually matter because I produce value. F~~~ anyone elses opinion about trivial bulls~~~ beneath my notice, like stupid selfies and 9gag reposts.

    Facebook is a topic which I am 50 50 !!!

I had so many times, where I deleted my account and just re-opened it!

I loved the fact to be a rocknroller and NOT being on Facebook! But then, I missed the buzz and there was a time, no one contacted me. So I am still on fb!

I wonder how a real mgtow or rocknrolla sees this topic! Are you on facebook?

I have a facebook account. I’m only “friends” with people who I actually know in real life and family members. I know a guy who is a lead mechanic on an indy lights race team and he travels all over the country during race season. It’s cool to see the stuff he does and the places he goes. I’m friends with some people I race RC cars with. Some of these guys travel out of state for big races and it’s cool to see the tracks they go to or their new paint jobs and what have you. I rarely post things and almost never chat with people on there, I mostly use it for my daily dose of random Cyanide & Happiness comics, I F~~~ing Love Science and racing news.

I for the life of me can’t understand why soooooo many people are facebook friends with people they don’t know, never met or ever will meet and exes. It’s just…dumb. F~~~ that s~~~.

I’m in the process of downsizing from Facebook.

I used to be a member to 31 groups, most of them MGTOW-related, and I had 320 friends at one point last year.

Then I realized, these 320 friends? I only know about 40 of them face-to-face. Others added/requested me just because I’m a friend of a brother of a cousin to theirs, etc. Because I show up on their list as a “mutual” friend. And any post I made, I would only hear from about 2 or 3 people anyway. And then I began to wonder why I was posting anything in the first place. What right is it of any of these people to know what I did with my day and why would they give a f~~~ anyway?

13 months ago, I began a big turn-around. I stopped posting, ignored all game requests, then I posted AGAIN to tell people to stop sending me the f~~~ing game requests, and began un-friending those who did so anyway. I began seeing Facebook as it really was. I read the horror stories of people being fired/sued for posting something too personal or “politically incorrect”. Teachers only months away from tenure being FIRED because they posted something on Facebook that some parent got p~~~ed off about and sent copies of that post to the school board.

Facebook was truly ruining lives, just for trying to have a hand in running those lives.

I am now down to 8 groups and less than 100 friends, and it’s only continuing to go down from there. My free time has gone up 60 percent and Facebook browsing is down 90 percent. I actually feel pretty damn good about the whole thing.

This post is right. Facebook IS bad for you.

I think FB is imploding right now just like myspace.
I am only using FB to get my dose of daily jokes and to share something meaningful

I’ve never been on Farcebook.  (No, that wasn’t a typo…..)  I simply didn’t see the point:

    – I don’t have any close friends, let alone a girlfriend,

    – the only immediate family I have is my father and his dog and I’m not on speaking terms with my other relatives in this country, and

    – I have no one I have to or want to impress.

Why should I waste my time on such an intellectual trifle?

I think so too, I’ve tried to get rid of it completely, but there are people who won’t let go of it and refuse to use anything else. Their entire life revolves around the stupid site and their narcissistic posts. They don’t care one bit, that the stuff they put into it is being sold to greedy marketers and being compiled into dossiers by alphabet agencies around the world.

Also it has messed things up, because the people you were close friends with, now have instant access to all those people who were previously long gone and out of their lives. Now they don’t value your company nearly as much, nor do they confide in you as they used to.

I only maintain a token presence on it, under an alias, profile filed with fake information. For the purposes of appeasing those who won’t let go.

@ Rennie:         “their entire life revolves around this stupid site”   Rennie: You’re right.  I do spend too much time here. Thank you for backdooring a winning concept into my brain.                  Baby steps… I’ll take a five minute break right now.

Facebook is mainly for women, I agree, facebook popularity is declining. I wonder women are going to do for attention, when facebook disappears. They may have to start a conversation with a guy to get it, it’s gonna kill em.
If facebook goes down so will the rest of them, a.k.a Twitter.

I have a mother in law who gets completely bent out of shape when no one replies or likes her Facebook posts. It has gotten so bad that she has created multiple accounts with different names and personalities so she can “respond” to herself; she even has full blown conversations with herself on Facebook……and my wife thinks there is no problem with her mom doing this……I am always looking over my shoulder

I’ve never signed up for Facebook. No social media.

I used to be on MSN Groups years ago and enjoyed that.  There was a chat place on NineMSN with lots of people from Australia and New Zealand called The Lounge.  Had quite a few acquaintances over there and sometimes we had over 100 people chatting.  The screen would roll fast enough to make it difficult to read.  Those were good times and I really miss those earlier days of the net. Actually visited with some of those folks almost daily for close to two years. It was disbanded way over ten years ago and I haven’t been interested in any social stuff since. Lost contact with all of them.

I deleted my FB account back in January, and there were so many pictures of high school classmates with their kids, and husbands, and all that other bulls~~~.

Why would I even care about that?

Okay, then someone says don’t follow them, but what’s the point of having FB if you’re not there to be social. As a social media platform there is nothing good to gain from the site, unless you’re using it for marketing purposes but even I question that.

I heard about rampant infidelity due to FB, but I’m not the type to wast time in trying to f~~~ another man’s wife.

If I were to post anything MGTOW related dudes would be scared to chime in in fear of upsetting their female friends.

    FB sucks.

There is FriendsForProtectionOfMen/FB and a few others and probably some secret MGTOW groups but I think KM has a much better platform here.

don’t touch Facebook. Know plenty of women at work who are always on there and as others on here have said it is a validation thing for them

why people feel the need to put every part of their lives on there is beyond me and I know a couple of blokes who do the same thing and it is pathetic imo

Im on facebook and my friends list is shrinking mainly because Im at my final straw listening or reading some silly man-hating status’s from females.

One whiff of ‘Misandric’ Bulls~~~  – indirect message status Bulls~~~ and I delete their ass off my list. Even the ones that Ive known since school.

Women getting pregnant AFTER they got slapped by their partners and posting about how happy that they are FINALLY pregnant.

I Use Facebook for News/events/or other hobbies that I like.

My advice: Dont use Facebook for joining MGTOW groups. You’d be suprised at how weak the Admins actually are, Some are headed by Mangina’s some even are headed by women. Even some people that claim to be MGTOW spreading their NAWALT nonsense – Click on their profile and you’d find out that they’re ‘in-love’ with a parasite.

What finally put me off in these groups is that some of these So called MGTOW actually say; “I’ve gone MGTOW until I find the right girl”
