Facebook 30 day Ban on Women Posting 'Men Are Scum'

Ironically, some women just don’t seem to understand equality. Or at least when equality is enforced on both genders equally.

In late November, after the issue was raised in a private Facebook group of nearly 500 female comedians, women pledged to post some variation of “men are scum” to Facebook on Nov. 24 in order to stage a protest. Nearly every women who carried out the pledge was banned.

“It wasn’t the best protest because it clearly didn’t work,” said Klemp. Avery said she is still suffering the consequences after posting “men are trash” on that day.

I don’t condone people making threats or sending abusive messages to people online, that’s just stupid. But at least Facebook is aplying it’s anti abuse policy equally, and considering hate speech directed at men just as punishable as when it is directed at women.

In case you missed it in the article – the womenz post variants of “men are scum”, and then they complain of misogyny from the moderators for removing the posts.

Exactly, no Sane Man nowadays has any connection with Social Media at all.

I can only assume, a Man who has a Social Media account is an attention whore, who doesn’t want to admit that he is an attention whore?

Or possibly, for a Man to keep in touch with his friends/relatives, who live far away from him, instead of using e-mail/Skype? This would be the only rational explanation that I could think of. Even then, he would have to keep his account private, so no lurkers could invaded it.

If you think men are scum, you should be able to say so. If you think women are whores, why shouldn’t you be able to say that on your personal page. This notion that we are all so freaking tender and so sheltered from life that someone calling you, in an indirect way, a bad name, is harmful is part and parcel with dominant culture censoring people who have unfriendly opinions…OR…opinions it doesn’t agree with.

I agree, but it’s these types of people who were the ones that brought about the current word policing that we now see on social media platforms.

Yes, I’ve heard that solution before. And it’s not that I totally disagree with it. What’s good for the goose and all that. It’s just that I’ve just never seen it work, and instead what I’ve observed is that we all end up with more censorship, all around. I’m open to the rules being applied fairly, and if this type of tactic helps, all to the good. I’m not holding my breath however.

Fascinating. Facebook is very liberal, so I’m quite surprised that they would give a s~~~. Perhaps they have noticed a significant decline in male users.
