My current avatar is from the movie My Little Pony (2017). I was roped into watching it in the theater. It was painful to watch (It’s a kid show after all), but I did like this character (Tempest Shadow). She is pretty badass, and I’ve always liked dark characters (hence, my username). And no, before you ask I’m not a Brony and I have no intention of becoming one. The movie wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it was still pretty bad. I have no idea why an adult would like this show.

Well, my Avatar used to be picture of Oliver Heaviside, but I thought that was somewhat disrespectful on my part. I changed it to this Artist rendition of Odin the Wanderer. It represents my wanderings through the wilderness of confusion searching for the true knowledge. Even willing to sacrifice one of my eyes to attain wisdom.

Mine is a red herring.

I identify with a certain fictional character who exemplifies a certain brand of masculinity. But putting him out there as my avatar would be too obvious if anyone suspected my real identity. So I chose the next best thing. In truth I know very little about James Bond franchise, but he represents similar ideals.

He also captures one half of my personality; the stylishly clad, urban, talent-driven, international man of mystery. The other half of me is Rorschach, the gritty underworld superhero that is morally driven into the darkest depths of humanity.

From the Mass Effect video game series, the illusive man (aka Jack Harper) was a master manipulator. Always in control and looking at the big picture. An ends justify the means kind of guy. Mine was a fractal, because I find mathematics fascinating. Then I changed it to a single stick figure holding money bags, symbolizing the increased wealth realized when not saddled with a TYPICAL woman. I live a minimalist lifestyle, so I’m not obsessed with money. It is meant as a play on those “stick figure” families on the rear windows of SUV’s in the US.

Mine is about the Greek river god, alpheus, pursuing a woman who was bathing naked in the river he dwelt.

Upon seeing the naked body of the woman, he falls in “love” with her, and started to pursue the woman.

To me personally, he lusted after the woman.

I lust after women, I don’t love them. His lust for that particular woman is the same burning lust I have for women in general.
