Expanding business network

So I was on a business website and they have a group of people in my industry that meet every week. Problem is, it’s in my ex-wife’s town. They meet at bars and restaurants too for these networking events.

Is this going to be a bad idea?

Nope. Don’t be afraid to the point of not going to these business events, even if you potentially bump into your ex-wife or any of her relatives/friends. I know it is easy said than done, but networking with other people in your industry is now a priority.

Not a question of afraid. It’s more of a question bumping in to her and Murphy’s Law. It will be incredibly awkward and per my attorney’s advice, I’ve stay far far away from her and her life since I filed for divorce. I just do not want to get into the whole you threw me out of the house and you killed any chance of …. I just do not want to hear it; especially with new business people around. No one likes that drama.

No, but the meet and greet networking event is a block away from where she lives. Since I live in a different county, it looks very weird for me to be suddenly in her backyard.
