So, I was around some of my friends, and one of my buddies brought along one of his mutual friends, a chunky girl in her early 20’s. We were all having a good time until she kept wanting to bring up social justice s~~~, and so I humored her, which is different from my usual being blunt about s~~~. She got on the subject of gay people and fat shaming. What she said basically amounted to:

“Gay people are born gay, you can’t choose what you’re attracted to.”

I agreed. I have a gay brother, and I wholeheartedly agreed with that statement. Then she wen’t on to say basically this:

“Magazines perpetuate a standard of beauty that is unrealistic, and we need more fat women so fat women will be considered beautiful.”

And then I stopped her, and said this:

We just sat there and talked about how we can’t help who or what we’re attracted to. Some men like butts, some like boobs, some like feet, ect. There’s no switch you can turn on or off to become gay, so why would there be a switch to turn on and off for liking fat women? And then I explained something to her. People who want to sell alot of magazines will put what men want to see on there. Men aren’t told what to find attractive, we like what we like. If that’s a skinny girl, I can’t shut of that switch, no one can, other wise we would switch it so that we thought everyone was attractive and there would be no trouble dating for anyone. She was kind of flabber gasted, and I kind of used her words against her, and I was ready with the DOUBLE STANDARD card but she conceded. Now, if this exchange happened over the internet, this is when she’d just call me a rapist and not address my argument. She agreed, but logic doesn’t convince women, it will shut them up in the face of social pressure, but I have the feeling that she got on tumblr and had a nice little rant.

Moral of the story:
Logic doesn’t work on line
Women are hypocrites
People can’t help what they find attractive
Fat acceptance is bulls~~~

We need more fat shaming. Being fat is unhealthy, so we’re doing them a favor.

Now there is a fine line that one shouldn’t cross. I would never put someone down so much as to drive them to commit suicide or something like that. That’s taking things too far.

Dude. You just made some EXCELLENT points. Another point I’d like to add is that in the past, being chunky was really attractive, but this trend had a legitimate reason: Those were often times of poverty, or at least times of near poverty, when the common folks stayed skinny naturally. Thus, if you had a few extra pounds, you were obviously well-to-do.
I’m not saying that anyone has to have a logical reason for being attracted to anything, but it DOES help to explain that trend…

I personally think that the whole “fat acceptance” thing isn’t worth my time. I’ll accept someone who is fat. I’ll be cordial, polite, and kind. If I have an opportunity to help someone or perform an act of kindness, I don’t care if that person is fat or skinny, but I WILL NOT lower my standards of what I personally find attractive.

Exactly how I feel, I’m not going to be mean to anyone because they are fat, unless they are mean to me. I think fat acceptance is more about sexual attraction than that other bulls~~~. I’m cordial and polite because that’s how civilization works. But I won’t and can’t change what I find attractive about people. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have standards, lord knows women have long as lists of them. But before you know it we’ll have people who try to poison you acceptance. There are some traits we are not attracted to by nature, and that’s okay.

You mentioned being fat being attractive back in the day. That’s very true, but I’d say that was more of a fashion thing. It changes on a year to year basis with clothes, and some trends come and go. I like the one where way back when, it was attractive to be pale, for the same reasons. Back then that meant you had workers to work in your fields in the sun, and you could sit back and relax. Nowadays, with the industrial revolution, being pale means you spend all your time indoors, and being tan is a sign of being active or at least going outside. Like I said, I think that was closer to a sign of status, by the way signs of status are always “IN” like a nice car or a nice house, and back then, food was something that a lot of people didn’t have just like today a Ferrari is something not many people have. But in today’s society, with food being so availible, it’s no longer a status symbol. Now it says
-I lack self control, which is not good
-I don’t care about my body, not to be pretty, but to be healthy
-I don’t care about my well being
-I have no foresight to see all the health risks this will cause, I can’t look beyond a day or so

So there are many more reasons. Your appearance says a lot about you, they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, and you shouldn’t. However, people are more complex than f~~~ing books, a book can’t decide to lose weight. People usually express who they are by how they talk, dress, tattoos, ect. People are visual creatures, and at some point in our history it was a benefit to make split second judgments on people based on appearance in order to survive. So, while you can infer a lot, you can’t infer all, and I’ve got to know people who were totally different than what I thought they were, but I’ve never heard a fat woman admit she’s fat, and unhealthy and then try to change it. AWALT I guess. So, I’ll be judging them, just like they judge me on my height and everything else. No such luxury is afforded to men, we are told to man up and lose weight, so I’ll do the same to women…. it’s only fair.

I find that beauty is bombarded at us on so many mediums…. the definition of what is considered beautiful is sometimes confused with what is considered sexy. Hell even a lot of women are attracted to other sexy women!

I used to tell this joke to guys that…. some guys are fat girl chasers because these fat girls never get any action, and therefore these guys are always scoring, unfortunately for me…. am not one of those guys!

I think that there are so many fat women because…. they have no self control, no self moderation, and no self discipline, AND most of them are quite lazy! Granted some of them are quite fit and healthy, but most of those that’s there bread and butter (pardon the pun).

Morbid obesity was never in style, and Rubens paintings show it by depicting women who obviously could walk around without artificial assistance.
