I watched Escape from LA last night for the first time and didn’t realise that Solid Snake is a rip off of Snake Plissken.

From the lines he used to the way he looked – it was great and actually added to my enjoyment of the film. That surfboarding scene was epic in its cheesiness

What the… I didn’t know Escape from NY is way older than LA! I loved LA but couldn’t bother with NY.

Turns out there are two more: Escape from New Jersey (2010) and The Escape Agenda (2012), where Snake is played by some dude named Hector De La Rosa. I don’t intend to watch those, though.

There was a Snake movie in between New York and LA called Captain Ron, a bit more of an upbeat take on the character.
