Today I spotted a news article of MSM.com about the ERA.
It said that congress COULD extend the dead-line (which ended in 1982) if one more state ratifies the ERA.

What I don’t get is why females need a special amendment to the U.S. Constitution in the first place. I am by no means a constitutional scholar, but it seems to me that females are already covered under the Constitution.

Why the need for a special amendment ?

On another forum, I argued for equal responsibility for females. The feminists on that site quipped that women already have too much responsibility. And, actually said women who stay at home and raise the family alone, have it tougher than their husbands who go off to combat.

Women got equal rights, then they found out about the responsibility that every man accepts. Now they want special treatment because they aren’t equal to men in any way when it comes to work. Now we have women in all arms of the military, in all combat positions. It is time for the ERA to pass creating true equality of the sexes.

Right now men are at such a disadvantage in terms of sex laws that anything moving toward equality would benefit men. No more pussy pass for example.

If, and that is a very big if, the ERA does pass, and the law says no discrimination based upon gender, wouldn’t that require women to, at a minimum, register for the draft at age 18, just the same ad young men are required to do ?
