Another thought this morning. These days, the word ‘equal’ and ‘fair’ get thrown around quite a bit. In quite a few cases, they are thought of as synonymous, although the two words really don’t have anything to do with each other.

    In dictionary terms, ‘equal’ is “<span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>like<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>or<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>alike<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>in<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>quantity,<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>degree,<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>value,<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>etc.;<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>of<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>the<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>same<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>rank,<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>ability,<span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>merit,<span style=”color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”> <span class=”oneClick-link oneClick-available” style=”box-sizing: border-box; color: #666666; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;”>etc.:”. We all know that 1 = 1. In business, 2 people are equal partners if they have they same profits and losses from the business. In some cases, context matters. Men and women are obviously not 100% equal, since they have so many differences. In terms of voting rights, they are equal. In terms of physical strength, they are far fro equal. Much of what is equal isn’t natural, but because a governing body enforces equality for some aspect of life.

‘Fair’ is “<span style=”color: #000000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.25px; background-color: #f1f1f1;”>agreeing with what is thought to be right or acceptable”. We refer to a price as being fair when the buyer and seller can agree to a price and are both happy with the deal. We think of a fair wage, where employee and employer agree on what the employee should be paid for his services. We consider taxes to be fair (or unfair in many cases). Society states that dependent care expenses for divorced parents are fair. A women’s right to an abortion is fair. Shared health care expenses.

Though 1 = 1 is equal, is it fair? Kind of nonsensical. Is an equal partnership fair? It’s accepted, so yes in that terms, but most likely 1 partner is more responsibly for the success or failure of the business. Are equal rights fair? Again, society says so, but not everyone benefits from the same from government actions.

Is a fair price equal? Absolutely not. Prices change based on market conditions. Money and products are not equal. Is a fair wage equal? Absolutely not. Employer and employee do not get the same benefit from the labor. Are taxes equal? Absolutely not. A citizen who pays little taxes gets the same benefits from the citizen who pays millions (in theory). Is the right to an abortion equal? That’s laughable to even consider the thought. Are healthcare expenses equal? Not even close.

Equal is relatively constant. It is fact. Fair, is constantly changing based on the whims of society and is rarely equal. People usually label something as fair as a way of telling you to accept the deal without analogizing whether the deal is beneficial to you, because society has accepted it. As MGTOW, it seems you must doubt and reject what is thought of as ‘fair’ whenever you see it.

    Ok. Then do it.

Oh my, not sure how all that crap got in there. Guess I need to be more careful with cut and past. Not sure I even want to bother fixing it.

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
