In constant noise of our surroundings, it is often hard for me to keep emotions grounded. Whether it is anger, angst, disappointment, etc emotions can be detrimental if not curbed at times.

As men we are better at having fair grasp on them but time to time we let go, and often realize it wasn’t the best choice.

From an old journal, I had an entry that I thought I share here.
    ————————-

A man’s emotions do not reflect his reality. Not necessarily so.
Whether we entertain them to grow doubts or fears, or create artificial emotions (daydream) to escape reality, both serve as a form of distraction.

Instead create a velvet rope as a polite reminder to yourself that beyond this point it becomes imperative to ask ‘Is this realistic?’

Respect that polite boundary. To cross over the other side of the rope requires one to accept the responsibility in willing expenditure of both valuable time and energy. For such investments have no positive changes to one’s outcome or reality.

Emotions themselves aren’t a problem. After all, men create the most emotional stirring movies, music, art, lyrics, literature, architecture etc. It’s not unusual to watch two Italian guys chatting in a cafe and they are really quite theatrical, passionate and animated!

The BAD part of emotions –>> is making emotionally-based decisions.

    • Don’t sign a lease on a dare.
    • Don’t sell a stock just because it drooped 10%.
    • Don’t race some idiot just because he calls you “chicken”.
    • Don’t sign a marriage contract because it “feels like you’re in love”.

    All bad emotionally-based decisions.

Men are often shamed with “don’t get emotional”… “you’re being emotional”…. “you’re reacting emotionally”… but that’s all bulls~~~ which must be scoffed at. It’s like they expect men to not even have a pulse. To subdue you. To calm you down. Too make you more docile and controllable.

But all you need to do is make sure you don’t make any emotionally-based decisions.

That’s keeping it under control and properly balanced with reality.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

    This is gold. Thanks, Keymaster.

    I wholeheartedly agree @KM.

Emotional-based decision making has been detrimental in past.

    Emotionally-based decisions are womanly.
