Ask five people who follow the video games industry what to expect from an E3 press conference and they’ll all paint you a similar picture. Bright lights on a big stage, lengthy cinematic trailers for shooters starring gravelly-voiced stubble-faced white men, interspersed with awkward patter from white men in suits (or, depending on the publisher, suit jackets and T-shirts and trainers), cheered and whooped at by a largely white male audience. This industry is often unwelcoming to women and underrepresented minorities, and these widely watched events do little to counter that.

Of course, some conferences do better than others. This year, we’ve judged EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Sony for the diversity of their speakers and of the games and characters on show. How do they compare?

I’ll spare you it’s long winded ‘analysis’ and skip to the ratings.

    EA: Diversity rating: 2/5

    Bethesda: Diversity rating: 1/5

    Microsoft: Diversity rating: 3/5

    Ubisoft: Diversity rating: 3/5

    Sony: Diversity rating: 3/5

Once again an industry built by men, for men and enjoyed (mostly) by men is somehow evil and wrong.

Marriage is the process of finding out what kind of man your wife would have preferred.

Don’t pay attention to The Guardian. It’s a leftish s~~~ show. Why can’t people just worry about the quality of the games? That’s why I really liked Sony’s press conference.

Just because there are many white men, doesn’t mean only white men are welcome. If you’re a woman and you need to see other women to feel welcomed, you’re the one with the problem. Fix yourself. Don’t expect the world to change everything to make you feel welcome.

Ok Ive had enough of this White men are evil bulls~~~. I mean we’ve got almost EVERY other race demonising the white man because they are in high positions doing that s~~~. As a black guy, it is annoying because it isnt the 1960’s anymore.
This diversity crap is nonsense also, The industry is predominately male.. so what, its not like most of these hoes loved games before they became more mainstream and ‘Cool’.
To my white to black peeps, carry grinding and do that s~~~ because the people that complain, only live to complain and not get up off their ass and do it themselves.

What makes some of these interviewers cringeworthy to watch is when you got a somewhat attractive interviewer – interviewing a well known developer and the way some of the questions are asked makes me cringe they are too dam timid and its not like “im gonna ask you a question confidently” its more like “can you please answer this question for me?” the awkwardness in the air is a put off…2:19:00 – onwards

Personally I think there are way too many women in the industry and all they do is screw things up. Like Jade Raymond or the #gamergate women.

It’s why I’m hesitant to bother upgrading and getting games anymore. Only some indie devs are okay, most of the big budget mainstream AAA games are SJW stuff nowadays. Like DA3 and many others.

A lot of times I prefer to just read old e-books. Most games just use re-hashed and inferior storytelling anyway, so just reading wisdom collected from the ages is a better and more entertaining use of your time. And I do not think even if a man spent everyday of his life reading he could gain all the knowledge and read every great work humanity has already created.

    F~~~ social justice!

The Video Game industry was build by men, when I was in highschool in the 90’s you couldn’t even talk about video games near the girls, they’d openly MOCK you like a little baby, because according to them, video games were children’s toys and if you ever wanted to get laid you better not tell anyone you played video games.

Fast forward a few years and the industry got booming, surpassing even the movie industry, that meant money, a lot of money, people that worked in video games were all of a sudden doing very well and getting rich, THAT’S when women suddenly realise: “You know what? I like video games now, look at all this money…

    Typical…

No wonder main stream video games are getting in the crapper these days and they’ll keep on getting worst and these social justice bulls~~~ keeps infecting them, the best games I’ve seen lately are from indie developers, a handful of guys making games like they used to be made in the 80’s and 90’s.

The poetic justice will be when the industry completely flips, you’ll have the main stream catering to SJWs not making any money, while the indie more underground section will be booming, just look at Markus Alexej Persson aka Notch, the guy behind Minecraft, I think we’ll have more and more of those in the future, guys that actually make games we like and pay for, while the mainstream will be too busy catering to perpetually offended snot punks living off their parents that don’t even buy anything.
