There are cures for addictions – ibogaine, to name one. They are being suppressed by the big pharma and the medical establishment. There is money to be made of people suffering from addictions.
Sure AA is a cult, but it works mainly because it provides sober camaraderie and peer pressure for those who don’t have it anywhere else.

The problem with A.A. is that they don’t count their failures. No other type of treatment could get away with that.
There was one study done with a group of people who had given up drinking. Half went to A.A. and half went it on their own. Result: No difference in relapse rates.
The problem with alcoholism, and all other forms of addiction, is that the addict is trying to cure their emotional pain with a substance. The kind of pain that can drive one to suicide without something to get them through. Drinking is just a symptom. Just eliminating the substance is like putting a band-aid on a malignant melanoma.

Not exactly. He made a quack diagnosis on a person he had never examined nor even met. Between this and his bulls~~~ reality show, “Celebrity Rehab” (as Stanhope points out) should get him stripped of his medical licence, at the very least.
