It all depends if the market values your passion.

i’ve had several careers.
could have been retired but all i ever heard was follow your heart..
it was bulls~~~ in the 70’s and 80’s
and it still is today.My advice to young people is always the same: “Do what you CAN so you can do what you WANT.”
The long version… find a task that you are good at which is also valuable to other people and then do that task. Use the resources you acquire from that to pursue the activities in your personal time that give you happiness. You need only produce as much as you require in order to be happy so don’t waste your time and effort producing anything more.
That, in a nut shell, is my secret to a life well lived.
My passion is working on my muscle car.
My job pays well enough to support that passion and more.
I believe the USA is 17-19th in the world for STEM grads.
Passion does not equal profit in most cases..
I think it’s all about finding a good balance between passion and being useful to others and also current life situation.
Earning money is a priority though, only then comes whatever I like doing.
No idea for life/career + illusions of having a useful passion + perservering in low-skilled and low-paid job = wasted time.
