That statistics that are used to determine effectiveness of birth control is not done to determine statistical plausibility for exposure on an individual basis.

When they say condoms are 80% effective – it means that people f~~~ing for a full year are able to prevent STD/pregnancy by 80%.

It doesn’t mean that when you are f~~~ing a woman, there is a 20% chance of you getting the gift of herpes. Or getting her pregnant.

Also agreed, and personally I don’t particularly like the odds with a 2% risk or whatever either! I’d rather lick a public toilet than go down on a woman, but I realise other people aren’t so averse to the risks.

I’m very conscious that the possibility of antibiotic resistance could be one of the great threats civilisation faces, although it’s not one people talk about much. I’ve wondered how much of the overuse of antibiotics comes from treating STDs? It might be that the overuse in livestock is a much bigger problem, I don’t know, but I am curious if you have any thoughts on this!

Condoms don’t fully protect against herpes or warts. The reason is because the condom doesn’t cover your entire schlong. Therefore the base of your schlong has a chance of rubbing against her herpes and warts. Also, if you have enough friction and cause micro tears on the base of your schlong, you can catch HIV as well even when wearing a rubber.
