For all of us going our own way, I think respect for one another is the most important thing needed. Lack of respect is the reason wars have been fought, empires collapsed, and I’ve seen people shot at and thrown through plate glass windows in bars and nightclubs.

Going your own way should be about avoiding pointless confrontation. Not actively engaging in it.

It’s the “non violence” social contract. Whether physical or verbal. Once you violate that social contract , YOU are to blame for whatever comes upon you. Common sense requires maturity. Overt aggressive machismo is juvenile.
