Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d earn the ire of a character named Turd Flinging Monkey, the nom de plume of a popular online activist. A leader in the Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) movement, which encourages men to avoid romantic relationships with women, Monkey did not take kindly to my new Prager University video talking up the benefits of marriage for men.

Oh snap, it looks like Mr.Wilcox didn’t expect that his wonderful video “Be A Man. Get Married.” will be received like that.

The dude ignores the main point: Life is not just about earning money. (Especially life is not for earning money for someone else.) Money is an important thing of life, but not the most important. It is just a bunch of numbers in your account, in which you can pay for the goods you consume. In the contrary, life is for having fun. And having fun includes to have an enjoyable job, and to spend your money on fun stuff you like, for example downhill bike / car / computer / camera parts or other hobbies and beer and traveling and whatever.

I think there are a lot of generalizations here.

I didn’t go to bars much before I was married, when I was married, or after my dissolution. I make MORE money after my dissolution than when I was married… No causation there for me… I showed up to work on time before, during, and after marriage…

What are ‘better work choices’? If a man values leisure time more than overtime, what’s wrong with that? NOTHING! Of course, he will necessarily be less attractive to the average women if he earns less… And thus, he will be less likely to be married.

Not having kids, meant saving an extra approximately million dollars in my 20’s and 30’s (I’m 45 now). I am working out more now that I’m unmarried. My outlook is improved. This lifestyle isn’t for everybody, but it makes me happy.

Since women TYPICALLY make less, by about $10,000 per year, on average vs men, marriage financially benefits WOMEN. This is an obvious reality. And this figure, doesn’t even account for women quitting work after marriage, and thus having zero income.

Also, is a stronger work ethic always a positive? I call bulls~~~… First, women marry men who make a lot or have high future earning potential. Some men may prefer leisure, especially if they hate their jobs.
