I sent her one more text, asking what she was doing with all this. I was polite and let her know there would be less for the kids if we battled this out.
She said she IS using a lawyer.
I’m stopping the payments this very moment and will be finding a lawyer on Monday and filing divorce papers on Monday.

I also didn’t get to see my kids for 8 weeks. I have seen my kids maybe 40 days in 7 years. last time I saw my older daughter was august 2015, younger daughter 3/15/16. s~~~.

once you get to court you will understand why you need a lawyer. absolutely essential. the family court is not family friendly, particularly to men. this is nothing like any court you have seen. in this deal you are guilty, and you must prove your innocence. less evidence is more. the imagined is real, and the real is ignored. for example, harassment is defined as unwanted communication. by this definition, your water bill is harassment, right? your bitch does not want to hear from you ever again, thus a birthday card is unwanted…harassment. a text asking why she is doing this to you after all these years is unwanted…harassment. driving within a few blocks of your house is stalking. you have no business being there, so you must be up to no good.
Keep in mind all the rules are against you. She does not have to follow the rules, she is looking out for the best interests or defending her self and her child from the big scary man.
my war took 7 years, a weekend in a holding facility, move 2 states away, lost my kids to the c~~~ poison, spent the spring and summer in a tent, sold my car for food, and a huge pile of cash. my war ends on may 7 2020. I survived by finding dropped change at drive thrus, car washes and ransacking pick a part cars for lost change in the cushions. I found about $3 a day for 18 months. good luck. I had to figure out when the nightly parking lot sweeper trucks would go through the lots, those bastards would suck up all the coins.

I sent a handful of texts this morning, much back and forth with her.
I had to be sure of her supposed intentions before I lit off WW3.
She still holds to the grounds that she’s just trying to not get the wool pulled over her eyes, and assured me that she will hold to our agreements we’ve made.
I’m not so sure about all that.
So, about ten minutes ago, I dropped her child support to $5.
Her car insurance ends on 10-3-16, and the registration gets revoked on 10-13-16. She will see the reduction in support on 10-7-16.
She has a meeting with her lawyer Tuesday.
Ya know, I know you guys will boil me for this, but I believe some of what she says. She’s pretty dumb, so no doubt she’s scared s~~~less about this. I’ve been up and down and sideways about this divorce, and my best chance to get out with losing everything was to get her on the same page as me and just sit down and finish the papers.
But, she said she won’t, so I guess I just pushed the button to launch nukes.
All I care about now, and before, is my kids. And now they are stuck in the middle.

I feel for you, I really do. And I’m listening to all the insightful words both in this thread and all the others here.
It doesn’t have to go this way. I don’t have to fight her tooth and nail until we are both drained of everything. The kids don’t deserve that.
However, I just went down a path I can’t pull back from. Turns out, I’m only allowed to make 2 changes to my direct deposit in a single pay period, and I just hit the limit with reducing her payments to $350, and then today down to $5.
That right there will set this ball rolling at faster than the speed of light.
War face? I’ve been to war, and it was truly awesome. This divorce? This is where I’m worried.

I’ll withdraw the other $345 on every payday and save it out of my account. Then, when the time comes, I can pay it all to her if need be, that way I’m not screwing myself.
Like I explained in my other post, the next two weeks will hit her hard. It didn’t have to be this way. I enabled her to easily get cheap car insurance, enabled her to easily register her car, enabled her to have the correct amount of child support giving to her even before I was ordered to by the court. Now, it’s over with.
Playing the “nice guy” is a self defeating game I don’t want to play anymore.

It’s been a month, time for a quick update.
Filed for contested divorce, she got served about a month ago.
Right before I filed, I changed the payments to her to $5. Then, I changed everything into my kids names as beneficiaries. Then, I cancelled her car insurance (it takes 21 days). So, now, she has no car insurance.
Her lawyer has been a ghost, went 22 days with no word from him, until my checks stopped. Now, I’ve been back and forth with him over email about how much child support to agree to.
First it was $200, then $225, then I did his math (because he was WRONG) and got I $174, then he admitted to being wrong and that I should pay $259, he did the math wrong again and going by his numbers (probably low-ball lies) I should actually pay her $241. Complete bulls~~~.
I’ll wait for a judge to decide, I’ll agree to nothing. I have no lawyer, I know you guys will castrate me for that.
That about sums up the divorce up till now. Of course, still living with all the other stresses of life like work and kids, but I’m in a much better place than I was a few months ago.

RegularJough, I was deliberately cruel to you back in September. I posted the way I did in order to shock you. I didn’t like it, but I did it all the same.
A lot of life has to do with doing things you don’t like.
Now, here in late October, I am proud of you. I’m proud of the steps you’ve taken. I’m proud of your actions. I’m proud of the way you’ve faced reality.
You should be proud of yourself too.
I still think you need a lawyer, but the one she chose seems to be a moron. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones.
I do know, however, given the way you’ve faced the unpleasant truths that you will get a lawyer when or if you need one.

Since then, I’ve upped my game ten fold. All documents are copied in triplicate, organized and kept in labeled folders. Some records go back 8 years, others (like the printout of HER checking account) go back 5 months.
I’m getting ANAL with this, and while I do have reservations about tackling this without a lawyer, I’m more prepared because I DONT have one.
I even have a couple of trump cards in my back pocket now, hopefully I won’t need them.
Man, when she gets pulled over driving a uninsured, unregistered, uninspected car….. She’s gonna be p~~~ed.

I previously did not realize how “legal” this would be for my wallet.
As it stands, a judge could bankrupt me with a pen stroke. If she’s honest about grossing so little money, I’ll pay out my ass regardless if they include my overtime into the equation.
F~~~ their favors, I’m out for blood. I’ve got almost everything I can think of on paper to at least make her hate her life enough to just settle this before we battle till the death. I’m relentless, I won’t let her win this, even if I lose.
As far as the lawyer, he left me two voice mails. He sounded frantic, very messy sounding. Not intimidating, but angry. I’ll stare him down from the first second I see him. He sounds old. Nevertheless, he tried being a hard ass sending me a bunch of official looking documents, but he filled everything out wrong. Ever piece on paper that had to do with my ex was just lies. Income, bills, taxes, all of it.
While I’m confident, I’m not c~~~y, and I’ll lawyer up if I think it’s going bad.
