I looked out the window last night and could see just one star in the sky close to the moon. I thought it was unusual as it looked bright and there’s not usually a star there and it was the only visible star in the sky.

I thought nothing more of it after that, but then saw this article that Jupiter was visible last night in the uk. Did anyone else see it and was it visible from other countries? Not sure how long it will be visible for

I’ve a great “night sky” app for my tablet. You hold it up and it displays all the planets, stars, etc. visible from that position at that time.

Yep. Tried to take a long exposure of it for more detail but a cloud f~~~ed it up.

Out in the sticks where I live we usually get a great view of the night sky. Jupiter, Saturn Mars and Venus are regulars—Mercury is a little tough because it appears at dusk and close to the horizon so there are usually trees in the way.

What is really cool is if you can get a glimpse of the ISS. Been her 5 years seen it twice.

Any of you city dudes that have never been deep in the mountains or away from all the light pollution like what PistolPete said, you have really got to see the Milky Way and moon shadows! You have to see it to believe it, plus the Northern Lights, nobody can explain these things until you find yourself standing in awe seeing them for the first time!

Hey Pete, I saw ISS a couple of times too, satellites usually every night at dusk and little past dusk, ISS has that aluminum foil glowing brightness like nothing else up there.

Yea I saw it last night, the moon was shining right into my window. I thought maybe it was Mars, but thanks for saying it was Jupiter.
