Message forums have become a f~~~ing joke these days. You can barely find any that don’t try and stifle the dissent of people who can’t stand political correctness and all of its trappings. C~~~s can spew the most insane bulls~~~ with impunity and the minute you speak up you get mods flocking to the post to warn you.

I joined a fantasy writing website to discuss my story ideas and discuss writing in general and it’s chalk full of these SJW’s that think it’s horrific that the fantasy genre is too “white” and “racist”. Where the hell do they think the fantasy genre originated from?

There’s little to no asylum from all this garbage. You’d think there would be people out there that think and behave like adults and can keep their politics in check.

To add one more point, it sickens me to the extreme that the artistic community has become so toxic and chalk full of hacks that have no business calling themselves authors, painters or anything else along those lines. I’m no Hemingway but my story ideas are at least based on integrity and not trying to write dumb downed s~~~ that assumes the audience is just a bunch of imbeciles that need their hands held and everything explained to them.

True that, man. Especially the second part. The entitlement of some people in the “artistic community” just makes me sick. I’ve tried to put together some pitches for independent comic publishers so I can get my name out there, be published and every artist I’ve ever talked to, hack or skilled but not published says the same thing: “What are you paying me?” Uh. Nothing. You get paid if we get hired, same as me. Why would you get paid while I have to work and lose money paying you?

I hear you on the people that think fantasy is too “racist”. Part of the reason I appreciate Game of Thrones is that it hasn’t been pulling punches. World’s going to s~~~ because people are worried about offending someone.

Definitely agree on the artists wanting to be paid up front. I can see paying someone for concept art if you are in the brainstorming stages, but then it becomes a big legal quagmire, even if they give you the rights to it. All of sudden you get published and they decide to have a change of heart.

No way in hell I could ever put a team together to create a graphic novel, or at least a few chapters to try and sell to a publisher, unless I won the lottery.

If there’s one thing I wish I had started working on when I was a kid it would be learning to draw. I’d have a lot of the work done by now, instead I’m at the mercy of other people if I really want to pursue a project.

I’ve been trying to teach myself. I’ve gotten better, but I’m a long way from being “professional”.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing video game concepts, character bios and dialogue for my cartoon projects.

The protagonists in my concepts are usually men of various races.

Sci fi and cyberpunk are my favorite genres.

I would say, generally speaking, a person who is an “artist”, or does creative work to express a thought, or view of the world (think even poetry or fiction) generally provides little value to the world, unless it is in a context of a community that shares the artist’s values, so the work of the artist works as propaganda for the artist in question.  Outside of that, unless it provides entertainment value and can be sold as entertainment, the artist will end up feeling they are irrelevant to the world.  So, they will go on these crusades to think they change the world by their art, in order to not feel irrelevant.  Left with mass rejection normally, unless tied into a community that reinforces their own biases (similar outcome), they end up becoming an end in themselves, and will fight tooth and nail against anyone who disagrees with their world view.  Their only chance at relevance is to be able to be the top influencer in culture, or they starve and face meaninglessness.  The outsider also, in the group with shared values, also threatens their point of being.

I am personally troubled that these individuals have infiltrated videogames with their agendas also.

No doubt.  Even my sister has observed that the straight, white man is the most reviled creature in existence.  Being reviled is no longer enough.  A straight, white man must also HATE himself and openly tell others that he is ASHAMED to have been born to this condition.  This last point is where you draw the ire of your peers.

So write your next story with a Strong White Female (Commander), a black man as second in command (First Officer), a gay man playing some second tier leadership position with the Commander’s ear, and an Asian/Indian/Middle Eastern female as Chief Engineer…and your stories will be a resounding success.  Oh, and don’t forget the EVIL straight white man who wants to kill all things good and replace with death and destruction.

I totally agree with the OP. I used to be really into writing Erotic Role Plays and was a member of a few forums for such. It was the same there in the Political Boards, almost everyone had a Left Wing insanity and they all howled down anyone who disagreed often creating weird and strange “Debate Rules” so they could continue to control the language of the debate even more.

The problem with the arts community and for that matter most younger people now days is they have all been through College or University and have been brainwashed by Left Wing politics and all it’s hypocrisy so they are merely drones, the equivalent of religious zealots if you like who just parrot garbage that they have been taught and accept it as unquestionable fact.

What I have noticed though is forums have been dying for the past 5 or more years, they were pretty active at one point, but with many Site Leaders who act like little dictators and their psychotic mod teams as well as members who seem to get away with breaking the rules etc It appears many people are just over it and so the number of forums dwindle.

As per usual I sit back and laugh.

The artistic community has gone to s~~~ because it’s usually taught by liberal professors…. or hacks… who have a libtard agenda and stifle any creativity by trying to be overly PC and breed the next generation of SJW.

Their art has no strife because that would involve some level of discord. Discord isn’t PC.

 

While in college I learned something, people are full of themselves.

Hard sciences will want to hear observations about empirical evidence gathered through the scientific method.

Soft sciences / Liberal arts will want to hear whatever suits their political views… and god help you if you go against them. (Probably get a C or D)

 

So this next generation of artists are turned out mostly wanting to appease the PC agenda instead of creating f~~~ing ART. Their idea of going against the establishment as rebellious is actually just streamlining ANOTHER type of thought that isn’t their own either. They’ve just been indoctrinated on the other side of the coin.

 

In short, people are f~~~ing idiots. Tell them to f~~~ themselves.

Bond villains are a perfect example of the evil white man trying to take over the world. People want to complain about how minorities have been portrayed in films but it’s always some white guy with the sinister master-plan for world domination. This was readily apparent in the 80’s with all the cold war propaganda inspired action movies.

That and they abhor classical white culture. I took a lit class in college and like the first week the teacher rushed through all of the “dead white male” stuff so that she could spend the rest of the time teaching all the contemporary garbage. Sorry but I don’t relate to Chicano literature or queer literature, or literature written by black people during the Harlem renaissance, it’s just not my experience and I don’t feel like I should be compelled to spend my time studying it, as if by not doing so I’m a less “cultured” person.

There is a lot of great art from around the world and from different cultures.  Much of it better than what the “dead white guys” produced.  What p~~~es me off about current pop culture or the current college curriculum is that the subject is presented not because it’s good or better art but because it is part of an agenda that some institution is pushing for it’s own purposes.

Queer literature, for example.  I know some studio or publishing house will get a bonus or an award for producing more and more of it and will prosper financially.  I know colleges must push neo-liberalism if they want to keep their funding and prove that their doing their part for diversity and minorities, blah, blah, blah.  But what’s all that to me?  I’ve noticed more and more gay books ending up on the new book shelf at the library.  Some of it might be good, great even, but I know that by the end of the story some dude gets a mouth or an ass full of cum…and that’s just not my thing.  If you want to jack-off to Broke Back Mountain and the like, do it…but it’s all s~~~ to me.

Chaos…I don’t think you’ll ever be successful in this industry.  You obviously don’t hate yourself the way you should.

Not to rain on your parade, but while there is a lot of great art, that appears wondrous because it’s not something we were raised with, I heavily support the idea that “dead white guys” produced the highest quality material, on par with golden age Asian philosophy.

While some try to accredit ancient Chinese with the scientific method, it was really “dead white guys”, Greeks etc. , that have pushed this world into the wondrous technological marvel it is today.

There is a never ending race of jealous minorities (women included) seeking to undermine and steal credit from the “white male devil”, rather than come up with something unique on their own.

These individuals seek to undermine, and steal credit where ever possible.

Still others refuse to recall when it suits their goals, that the “evil white male” has given plenty of credit to females in science when it was due, such as Rosalind Franklin, who was the first to actually photograph a DNA strand.

Just like in ancient times, people love to hate on #1. In today’s current hierarchy, the “white mans” civilization is #1. People will hate on it whenever they get a chance, just like they did to Rome when it was still kicking ass.

Naturally, there is nothing wrong with NOT being white, but that doesn’t mean we Caucasian males can’t have pride in our heritage. Of course, this is constantly confused with “white supremacy” which is not the same thing. Anyway, rambling here. That’s all I wanted to say.

Which is funny because as soon as you point out the greatest villains in pop culture are, by and large, white men (Doctor Doom, Magneto, the Joker, Lex Luthor, Blofeld, etc), they get p~~~ed there’s less representation!

@Fermat271: I do like drawing, but I lack a lot of skills I’m trying to sharpen up on. Perspective is especially weak in my skill set. Probably anatomy is my strongest suit. I have a DeviantArt account, but I haven’t used it in some time. I’m trying to set aside time each day for the next year to draw so I can get better, though.
