I understand the destructionist impulse. However, I don’t know too many cases where mass panic resulted in anything good. It ends up causing the broken window hypothesis go into overdrive, which is what you see happen. Chaos breaks out and then militant warlords take control of sectors, ans it is all out fighting, and the use of violence to resolve everything. People live in fear more than ever. You get what happened in Iraq after Saddam was thrown out of power and the ruling party was taken out.

Better approach is to build a secondary system that works in the current system, can be relied on, and then when hell breaks loose, you shift over to it.

I think we have some serious headwinds based on this and other factors. That said, all it takes is another set of Quantitative Easing to reverse my statement.

I don’t think we’ll see that, though, until it’s far too late. My retirement money remains invested, while my free money is now all in cash. This is specific to my own situation and I’m not recommending everyone go to cash. I am, however, spooked by the markets. I sold during the dead cat bounce.

"I've been thinking about what it would be like if we got back together."
"You know it's too late for that."
