any “masochist” here playing this game?
I don’t know why my relation with this game started with hate and ended with love.

For those that don’t know much about it. It’s a damn good action RPG set in a Dark Fantasy world: fantastic atmosphere, beautiful locations and a really fascinating lore. but a really painful gameplay Forget the usual hand holding and press x to win, you will die and die in a very deep frustration but at the same time the feeling of achievement will be great. I stress to point that difficult doesn’t mean unfair, every time you’ll get killed it will only be your fault, there is always a good strategy for each situation

I do like DS style gameplay. Oooh yes, sometimes I am masochistic. (Alien Isolation on Hard and later on Impossible)
I so wish for Bloodborne on PC, if it ever reaches it….ehhh.. I just enjoy its twisted world and circular story so much, or maybe will get PS just for that one day.

I don’t mean to upset you but… well Bloodborne was f~~~ing amazing, take it like a mixture of Lovecraft and Van Helsing. Lovecraft for the twisted plot, type of monsters and atmosphere, Van Helsing for the monster hunting and various weapons and tools that you use it.
Some of my friends at first “too scared” of the DS games quickly became hardcore fans thanks to Bloodborne.

Music to my ears …damn. Sounds just right.
Buying PS4 just for Bloodborne I would consider …excessive. So I will hope and wait.

Killing Floor 2 and Payday 2 are working great for my adrenaline needs so far.

I love the Souls games. I can’t wait for Dark Souls 3 and hope another Bloodborne is made. My favorite one has to be Dark Souls 1 because the setting Lordran was perfect. However I do love how Demon’s Souls had the more dark and disturbing tone and setting.

Edit: Yup, looks like its coming out in 2016. Can’t wait.

I really like the first Dark Souls. It felt so endless; the game technically never ends, it’s a circular game. What I like about the series a lot is that you have no idea what the story is until you finish the final boss. Me and my brother each played in endlessly to replace most of the average person’s seventh-generation gaming.

Easily one of the top game series I’ve ever played. I agree with @thebard that Dark Souls 1 was the best. I played demon’s souls after DS1 and that game is so ridiculously hard. It’s way harder than the dark souls games in my opinion.

    In my case:
Dark Souls 1, over 600 hours, still playing it.
Dark Souls 2, did not even buy it (the graphical downgrade and the fact the game is far easier than DS1 made me stay clear of it)
Dark Souls 3, waiting for it, we will see.

Demon souls didnt play, no playstation.

Yes there was a downgrade but it’s not even that bad, acceptable in my opinion, Scholar Of The First Sin had also some improvements in it.
I wouldn’t say that it’s easier, expect usual frustration like asshole enemies trying their best to take you down and quite challenging bosses especially those of the DLC (all already included in Scholar Of The First Sin).
What I “didn’t like” but didn’t bother me that much in DS2 was a less vertical level design, yet I find it artistically astonishing.
My suggestion is: if you liked DS1 just go for DS2 without any second thoughts, I assure you that you won’t regret.

I will get DS2 eventually, Just not at premium price. Id pay twice for DS1 before buying DS2 SoFS now :D.

Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that in DS2 you dont die, but the deaths are cheap.
Most of DS1 was actually possible to predict if you kept an eye open and sharp wits, but DS2 has a lot of very cheap deaths.

As an example, DS1 had the mimics. In theory its a cheap death, but you could realize the different chain pattern in the chest for mimics.
I saw some videos of DS2 where the idea of making the game “hard” is to add more enemies or traps than instakill you with no warning.
There was a very good video on this topic that had a lot of interesting points:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UScsme8didI (Im not saying I believe everything the reviewer points out, but even 30% of it would be a severe downgrade for me from DS1).

Its not like I think I will not like DS2, but I will approach it more carefully, especially since I am still enjoying DS1, even after 20 playthrou.
Also, I am a patient guy. When I get it there is a chance that some good mods will be out to improve the game.

Id say the graphics are VERY bad compared to DS1. I dont mean it from a technical point of view but form an artistic one. What I mean mostly is that the world of DS 1 made sense with the graphcs it had (It makes sense how every area looks. Blighttown makes sense, darkroot basin makes sense, unded burg makes sense…. in DS2, some of the areas look as if they just said, lets add more things, even if they are not needed).

The reason this matters so much to me is that when the world makes sense its easy to get drawn into it. If it does not, the stakes seem lower, and the experience is simply put, different.
