The film starts with the deceased lamenting. Certain items the man kept are a source of investigation.

The protagonist was furnished with every material want imaginable. Yet his passion was dictating how others should live.

Throughout the story. The man gets every imaginable accolade. Yet he’s bitter to everyone.

The supporting characters are relaying his reasons for bitterness. The protagonist is chasing his muse. His muse isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. So he’s continually chasing a phantom that can’t be satisfied. Because he believes a phantom from his infancy, Rosebud.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. --Sun Tsu
