Choose Your Pain

My insomnia is your gain, brothers.

Plutarch’s Lives has been my companion the last few nights as I wrestle with one of my sadly common periods of insomnia. An observation made by one of the people Plutarch profiled struck me with such force that I put the book down and made a cup of tea to mull it over.

I’ve pruned it a bit for modern readers:

Either suffer the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.

Choose you pain, brothers, and choose wisely.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.

That is from Jim Rohn quotes. The full quote is

“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.”

There is no magic in MGTOW, just recognition of the truth and logical decision how to avoid dangers. The red pill is but the truth, it is no magical potion. Do not think in this modern world men have no longer have natural enemies, men are prey to women and government.

This is a good thought to keep with you. Do not let your desires and passions overcome reason. The only things that you need to be happy in this world are health and stability. Avoid decisions that compromise these two things, and prioritize decisions that build these. Indeed, this does require discipline…so choose your pain.

Happiness is not about avoiding pain or obtaining whatever you desire. It is about maintaining your health and stability and having the discipline required to do so. Women are the antithesis of stability. Keep your involvement with them to an absolute minimum.

Very profound words Old Bill.

Pondering on all great men throughout history; I think it’s fare to say all have borne the pain of discipline. Discipline is the absolute foundation stone of success; it is better to have discipline then to be born talented in my view. Discipline gets us up in the morning, allows us to save and invest for the future while other are chasing temporary diversions. Later they tend to suffer not only regret but loss opportunity and progress.

Discipline is what society is lacking the last 30+ years or so. I think we are suffering from it – few great achievements have been obtained in that time.
It is a characteristic that is rare in men, and almost non existent in women.

My grandfather was a WW2 veteran. He had a profound impact on my formative years. His life was a regiment of discipline. I know it’s cliche but his day always started with making his bed in the morning. A small structured accomplishment that was done “right” was a small disciplined victory that provided the motivation to accomplish more during the day.

The sad thing is some people are so familiar with massive pain of regret, they become addicted to it. They’ll say they don’t want it anymore, but their actions (the truth) say otherwise.

Anyway communication, real open communication, is not wanted or even required in a relationship. Women cannot handle fully open and honest communication, plus most perceive it as a weakness on the part of a man. All that is required is catering to her whims, and even then nothing is certain. I know this is an old post. Good post Sensei. I choose the pain of discipline. I know it will pay off in the end.

What people call "love" is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. Your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle. Rise above. Focus on science.
