As a former footballer myself I am also saddened.
Sometimes there is no justice in this world. The club had worked their way up the table from obscurity to playing in the final of the South American club championship and were killed because some idiot didn’t check if the plane had enough fuel. Hangings too good for him.

The latest news are incredible. Apparently the aircraft was at range limit for that flight, so it run out of fuel.
As a (private) pilot, I can say: it is the most irresponsible and dumb thing a pilot can do. I cannot even believe such thing to be possible.
