What does this mean? In the last three days the Israeli air-force has struck Iranian targets in Syria… twice. This action in the face of the President tearing up Obama’s Iran deal and as a backdrop to the US withdrawing forces from Syria. What is going on here is Israel is trying to provoke a region wide war and draw the US into it. They would love for us to do their dirty work. As you all know I support Israel defending itself BUT that is not the same as approving an under-handed attempt to “boot-strap” us into another war. And a war in which NO vital US national security interests are at stake.

Normally my buddy THX would have taken this up and for some strange reason he hasn’t so I’m doing him a favor and addressing the issue in a calm rational way. To wit we need to resist any and all attempts to drag us into another idiotic mid-east war. And frankly this is no way for an ally to behave.

IF Israel wants to go to war with Syria–fine just don’t invite us to the party–its YOUR ballgame.

Good measured post. I agree Israel has the right to defend herself but the U.S. is not her body guard.

What exactly is Israel defending itself against? Assad is busy enough dealing with terrorists. How are Syrian defensive weapons a good measure of retaliation for Israel when all it does is further weaken Assad’s grip giving his opponents an upper hand. In fact, ISIS/FSA taking over is more of a national threat than Assad could ever be!

That is precisely the point. Syria is not a threat to Israel. Now Hezbollah and Hamas are a threat. Sure Syria supports them—at least with lip service. But those groups operate out of Lebanon, not Syria. As a practical matter none of Israel’s neighbors (Jordan, Egypt, Syria) represent a threat. Lebanon and Gaza do but only from the standpoint of terrorism. In any case the point of my post was to bang the pots and pans about us being dragged into another stupid war.

I am hoping the President has sense enough not to be drawn in. HOPING and PRAYING!

Another question for Blade. I just saw the last 20 minutes of the flick. Did I miss something? Isn’t cavalry supposed to be armed with lances or sabers?

I see the regiment only lost 30 guys in that attack—that is nothing short of miraculous. I also notice–with a little pride that although the Turks ran way the Germans did not.

I also like the one horseman that had the Mauser C96, I own two—a 1911 and a 1933. Wonderful (if incredibly complicated) weapon.

I know. I’m listening to Mark Levin right now and he is absolutely salivating at the prospect of war with Iran. Which is kind of funny in a way because he goes on and on and on and ON about our 21 trillion dollars in debt. I wonder just how he/and/ the others in the war party think they are going to finance such a war. OHHH but Iran is doing this that and the other thing—yeah? so what?
