I heard a woman found a dead body when playing the game. It was by a creek while looking for water-based Pokémon.

I heard a little about this game on the news, and it seems neat, but I think it’s just plain dumb, and it looks like it’s stupid girls that are into it. Of course.

Mass adoptions like this remind me of the old horror film where someone gives away halloween masks embedded with a laser chip that turns people’s brains into bugs and snakes.

It was a silly premise, but the idea was that half the population would be wearing these masks and watching a TV special which would trigger the lasers and then the bugs and snakes from their heads would kill everyone else.

Thats how i felt when the Tamagochi came out and thats how I feel now… like this is some giant deadly prank and theres going to be some huge gotcha and this is how the zombie apocalypse starts.

It sounds paranoid, perhaps, but I have a powerful underlying distrust of explosively rapid mass adoption of anything… style, song, food, technilogy. I feel these things just set up to be more and more accepting of close formation behavior which is a TERRIBLE idea on a field of battle.

I’ve had a load of fun with the game, and funny enough the only chicks playing it are the ones playing with their boyfriends.

This idea is going to explode. I can see the Walmart add now. Go to any Walmart on black Friday between 8 AM and 10 AM, get a free pokeman! Nintendo could make a killing off this.

But the idea is going to everything. Every retail place will give you some sort of useless place just for frequently visiting their store, even if you buy nothing. Just because the more you visit, the more you’re likely to buy.

I can see the a sports league giving free digital players for showing up games, or at whatever retail store is willing to fork up the cash for the promotion.

Give it a year or two, this is going to very common.

I’m playing it, but since I live in a bit of a remote town, there’s not a lot to find around here. Am a bit envious of people who are already level 20 (I’m lvl 4), walking around with rare pokemon of insane strength.

Ah well. The game gets you off your couch and out of the house, that just might be the rescue fat america needs 😉

Many businesses are adopting this mindset. Seaworld offers pokemons to be caught at the parks, and sever restaurants in the area are doing the same thing.

On a darker note, a teenager playing the game in a park had his phone stolen, hit in the head with an object, then shot three times. By a 14 year old. This happened about 25 min from my house.

I don’t know why people are so obsessed with amassing collections of these digital cartoon characters. For one they have zero value at all and two once Nintendo someday pulls the servers, all this stuff is going to be abandonware, except that unlike abandonware of decades past, it will be completely unusable now and forever.

Then there’s that issue of who created this. Most likely some government agency that wants access to all the places they can’t legally get into.

Some people are so stupid with this game that they break into other peoples houses and get shot dead, trespass on nuclear power plant property, lurk around the border of Area 51 and go into office buildings and have to be removed because they don’t have the sense to understand the meaning of private property.

It’s only a matter of time before the copycat games show up too.

That’s not only Pokemon Go, the majority of other apps want a ridiculous amount access rights to your phone. Why a app that help me read need access to my contact, my SMS, my location and other stuff?

You can override these stuff by overwriting your phone OS with Cyanogenmod, or install X-privacy. So even you have to give all permission when you install the app, you use these stuff to deny them permission you don’t think they need.
