    Y’all have opinions?

I was a teacher. I taught for 2 years in rural immigrant communities, and really hated my job toward the end.

I just received an email form a large city, wondering if I was still looking for a teaching job…probably a maternity leave.

A job is a job, right? I like teaching kids, provided they want to learn. I know I’ll be back to teaching in the crappy common core environment. Or maybe not, I really don’t know.

I know I said never again, but I’m trained for this, maybe the city school is better than the cowtowns I was in.

Part of me says poke at it and see what happens…I might get a contract for next year. Then I can continue to fund my state pension, one year closer to vested…and no SS for the ex.

Part of me says you had such a s~~~ty time ASALT all schools are like that.

My next interview is a 30 minute drive to put stuff on a failmart shelf from 2 pm to 11pm. I’d like to get this so I can interview for better in the morning. a soul sucking job. spending money to get there, Monday is C~~~day, so I’m paid for 4 days of work. maybe $80 a day. yes i know the math sucks. a job is a job, right?

    Just got for it May.
Posting here is an indication you are looking to see if we support what you are already thinking.

Just jump on it. You d9nt know where it leads.

In life we regret more the things we didn’t do than the things we did.

Go for it – if it goes wrong you tried.
If you don’t try younwill always wonder.

    Good luck. I mean it.

What subject? You can look at the class syllabus to see if you have to teach common core s~~~ right?
    What grade level?
Do some research on the school itself and the neighborhood (demographic, graduation rate, crime etc)
Estimate commute time and costs of living

Dude, a job is a job. Remember, no matter who signs your check YOU WORK FOR YOU.

We all know the saying, “If you dont like your job, quit”. It still rings true. Obviously your’e not rich. So go to work dude! Especially if you dont have any other income. Make your cash and bounce as soon as you can. Don’t be lulled into the thinking that the system owns you. We are in modern day survival territory.

The workplace is aligned with gynocentric thinking. You can be fired with just a word? You can easily up and quit WITHOUT one. THERE IS NO LOYALTY.
Loyalty.. just another thing fems destroyed.

    Get yours and GO!

BTW. Is common core still a thing? Good lord!

It’s a lot different when you no longer have the dead weight of some worthless slag hanging over your shoulders! Set some goals, make a budget and start saving up for YOU!

For years and years I worked jobs I hated, quit, found a new job, and hated it just as much. I learned there was never going to be a perfect employment situation and decided just to return to the career I had left: banking. I am philosopher and musician and I wish I could make a go of it doing something I love but I just dive in and do my job and enjoy my free time.

You know yourself what opportunities are available and if teaching is the best thing you can get in this economy take it. There are worse things you can do.

People always said I should be a teacher and I know I couldn’t deal with it so I get where your coming from but I think you should take it.

Good luck May 7. You are a good guy and any decision you make will be the best for you.

I think dealing with kids today is more challenging than its ever been and a big city school probably isn’t going to be better than a rural school in that respect. More kids, more politics, more problems.

On the other hand though, it doesn’t hurt to give it a try. If you’re given the flexibility to teach the class how you want to then you’ll enjoy it more and maybe find a good way that gets through to and engages kids. Maybe you’ll be the teacher they all want to be in class with.

If you don’t like it, you can always leave.

Brother, you don’t have a decision to make yet. When you have 2 or more job offers, then you have a decision to make. Go after every one of them like you’ve been waiting your whole life for the opening. Then, when you have multiple offers, that’s when you have to pick.

    1. You like to teach.
    2. Schools are probably worse than you remember. PC s~~~ is getting f~~~ing ridiculous.
    3. You run a real risk of some teenage pumpkin accuse you of s~~~ you didn’t do.
    4. A job is a job. This one offers some sort of retirement package?
    5. Do you want to live in this city?

    Sorry not much help.

    A job is a job, right? I

But this is one that you have a background in, liked portions of it during past employment, and would be making a difference.

Even though it might be only a term contract, this does add to your teaching experience and is a great skill to have available when needed. Not saying that you would want to bounce from job to job, but 9 month employment is better than a string of low wage jobs.

    Go for it May.

With teaching, you’ll get good benefits, good retirement, and job security.

You can always try moving into teaching at a PRIVATE school, a magnet school, a religious school, using this job as a stepping stone — there ARE schools where kids want to learn and expectations are still high. Is it suburban or central city?

OR you could go from teaching into Corporate Training.

You don’t have to teach forever. You could also go from teaching to Management, e.g. principal, school administration, etc.

My argument is to go for it, but only you know what’s best. Even if you only do it for a year, you’ll likely put more cash in your pocket than other alternatives. And if you want to make more, you’ll have summer to do a second job or more teaching.

Also, can you get set up as a substitute teacher to make some cash now?

hey guys, tyvm for your thoughts. I spend a few bucks to get my teaching licence renewed. there is no harm in talking with the school district. maybe the constituent class is better, more interested in being educated.

There’s nothing wrong with doing what you’re trained for. You can always leave when you have a new job lined up. Who knows, maybe a new school in a new city is just the ticket for you?

a job is only worth it if you have a get-out plan, a plan B, a fallback. I have gotten into work with no contingency support and it went very badly, put all my eggs in one basket and two woman smashed them.

Remember, no matter who signs your check YOU WORK FOR YOU.
