That’s me. I’ve always been forgetful, even when I take notes.

Now, I know that’s going to hurt me.

My annual “supervisor evaluation” is coming up any day now, and in the past week I’ve:

    – Taken two later than usual lunches (they like to have lunches finished no later than 2:00 because we get off at 6:00, I took a 3:30-4:30 lunch two days in a row)

    – Forgot to clock back in from lunch two days ago after not forgetting for so long.

    – I just forgot to clock out at 12:00 (I get off early on Fridays) because as I was about to clock out, other workers were talking to me on their way out and it drove my mind to distraction. But of COURSE this will be a strike against me as well.

None of which has anything to do with how well you are doing your job………..

I’ve read your stuff over the past few months regarding work. Dude, I hope you can find something and get the hell out of there. You deserve way better than that BS.

Ditto get a better job! I wish you the best of luck with both your current situation and finding a better gig in the very near future.

Measuring “productivity”, or “how well you are doing your job” is something most supervisor evaluators are too lazy to do.

Bottom line, they need any excuse they can think of to deny an increase in your salary.

So, they nit-pick little bulls~~~ crap like like late lunches, forgetting to clock back in, or using sick days.

Believe me, I’ve asked straight out “So all you’re concerned about is perfect attendance?”

I’ve had about 15 interviews in the past 3 months, more than I’ve ever had in my life. I feel like I do rather well after the interview, yet I’ve only been called for a “second interview” once out of those 15 times…and it was between me and 8 others, which they would pick 3 from. I wasn’t one of the three, obviously. I just got my annual raise of $1ish, but the positions I applied for all paid way better than that.

The biggest criticism I get at my office is my distractions (I get distracted VERY easily) and my forgetfulness. Despite these things, I get the work needed done, but honestly, HEAVEN FORBID I forget something. Then it’s a “huge problem.”

Remember MC, you are NOT your job, it is just something you do. I always find it hilarious when meeting a guy for the first time, because this is almost always the first question. It is a way that has been used to “pigeonhole”(remember that word ya feminist c~~~?) men into BEING their job. It is bulls~~~. There are exceptions of course like doctors and scientists and such, but most people work simply in order to survive and possibly “live” in today’s society. We are NOT our jobs, rather our jobs are just a SMALL part of us.
Today’s workplace is a micro-managed hellhole of ten million rules and regulations designed to break your spirit and give up, slowly but surely, your Independence, Rights and desire for Freedom. Remember, it is ILLEGAL for your “reviewer” to give you the best score possible. And with that statement alone, we all know our value in the “workplace”.

Absolutely, I hate this as well and it is usually followed by the next questions “So what do you earn doing that?”

    Annoying!

Stop caring about your job so much.. As long as you do what needs to be done clerical errors are minor.
