I’m looking forward to seeing it but I’ll wait for the DVD. I’ve always been interested in WWII history. I’m a little surprised though that the Dunkirk movie is so popular. I didn’t think that people were still interested in WWII stories. I’m thinking that for younger people, maybe this is the first that they may have heard about the war.

Maybe because I live rural which has a more pronounced effect of population loss due to WWII and lot of British descendants here.

Guys are going to the movies for the first time in decades to see it.

Apparently the movie house is full of men which they have never seen this happen before.

Women are venturing their opinion from a feminist perspective and blue pill men are shutting them down with historical facts.

Something is up fo sure.

Even in school 45 years ago, we were never taught about WWII. I learned about it just from reading on my own. Maybe this is the first time many younger people even know anything about Dunkirk…

Right on Autolite, WW1 and 2 were fairly well glossed over in my formal education, while on the other hand my personal education on WW2 starting with my Dad and Uncles stories, has been all down to my love of history and reading.

The original ‘Dunkirk’ movie (1958-John Mills, Richard Attenborough) could be watched on YouTube but has since been pulled down. It’s worth a watch if you can find it anywhere…

I’ve talked to millenials here in the states that don’t even know the story of the Arizona. They know there’s a memorial at Pearl Harbor, but they don’t know why. I grew up on WW2 stories. Something like the Arizona should be known by every American schoolkid, I think. Just like the story of what happened at Dunkirk should be known by every British schoolkid, but that’s just me apparently.

I know pretty much nothing about the Korean war (I thought MASH was WWII)

I have little knowledge about why there was WWI, something about someone was assassinated??

I know WWII was mainly about Hitler was killing Jooz and trying to take over the world.

I lived thru the aftermath of Vietnam dealing with crazy, suicidal self medicating, f~~~ed up, angry vets when I was in my teens in the 70’s, I don’t know what that war was actually about.

What I know about the Iraq war has all been proven false.

I have no idea what we are trying to win in Afghanistan.

In the original Dunkirk (reality) weren’t the women LONG GONE and given FREE PASS out the war zone while men were interrogated by the SS, arrested, beaten, and imprisoned?

Where were the the British women? Captaining the vessels under live fire evacuating the army? Were they resisting the advancing enemy and blocking the roads with burning war machinery?

No, they were on main land Britain having their hair and nails done!

WWI, was a big family feud. The Kasier, Tsar, and King of England were all Cousins. I’m pretty sure it was all a big farce to create a one world government called “The League of Nations” at the same time reducing the population of Europe.
