First let me preface this by saying I do not advocate anyone gets this horrible disease. Cancer is terrible, and I feel for all people who have suffered through it, or have had to watch a friend or family member go through it. I have had people close to me get it. I hope they do find a cure.
With that said, I hate this “awareness month”.. Imagine if there was no breast cancer awareness month, but there was one dedicated to testicular and prostate cancer. My god would women be up in arms that it is sexist, and they suffer too. How excited would you be for breast cancer awareness month if you had a different type of deadly cancer, such as brain, but there are no colorful ribbons, or corporations pushing a colored shirt for your type of disease?
Obviously, I could drag this on, but I won’t. Not every woman wants to be in the center of the spotlight either when they have cancer. “Awareness” anymore just means there’s some publicity stunt. Where’s the ALS movement at? Do people even remember what that was? I’m all for meaningful progress, but this is none of that.
Here’s an exchange in the British government about instituting a day for recognition of men’s health including prostate cancer.
The only female member says the tired old…well every day is men’s day in government:
#icethemout; Remember Thomas Ball. He died for your children.
Cancer is indiscriminate and cancer is cancer it almost always does not matter what type it is. A bullet from a speeding gun is a bullet from a speeding gun, get hit by it and the result is serious injury or death. That and everyone f~~~ing knows about cancer so an awareness month is effectively useless.
A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!
My mother, grandmother and my wife had this horrible disease. Fortunately my wife got it early and is a survivor. My mom was not and succumbed to it. While I agree that in today’s world the media can skewer things one way or the other, cancer just plain sucks no matter who. I think as men we need to be more vocal at the grassroots about what ails us as a gender – rather than detracting from women’s causes. We are smarter and stronger – so we can do it. Peace
you know that pink ribbon ? ..there is no copyright on it ! ANYONE can use it with no guarantee ANY money will go to research .
F~~~ pink ribbons or pink anything during the build up to Halloween.
Take another month. How about we cram all this female awareness stuff into February, it would be the most appropriate. I mean the 14th is national “hold men hostage” day.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave. My mother died of cancer in front of me. But this Breast Cancer Awareness month is just another way to put weemin’s entitlements in the spotlight. That is all it is.
If it wasn’t, it would just be Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s always about Women this, Women that, blah blah blah.
Anyone can get cancer. Animals get cancer too. Yes it’s very bad. Everyone is “aware” of it now. Thank you very much.Don't let them Blame, Shame or Tame you!
Give 'em NOTHING, not even an answer!
#GenderSegragationNow!Anyone see any attempts by them to steal money from peoples paychecks for this nonsense?. Someone on Glassdoor claims East Side Mario’s ‘managers force you to donate for breast cancer research by saying that it’s mandatory’. I haven’t yet gotten paid for October so I can’t yet verify whether my outfit is doing this or not.
They’ll complain that it’s the shortest month of the year (by two measly days woop-dee-doo) and use that fact as evidence of patriarchy, declare it another example for the “war on women” and claim to deserve more, but rather than solve that issue themselves they emand society solve it for them(as if it were even an issue).
Women who carry their cell phone in their bra are more likely to get breast cancer.

This goes with men with cell phones, DO NOT carry your cell phone in your pocket, instead get a belt clip.

There is several cures for cancer. Hemp oil being the cheapest because it only costs price of corn to grow. Rick Simpson was harassed by the police for providing free hemp oil to his neighbours. They couldn’t arrested him because he wasn’t selling hemp oil. The government eventually ran him off to another country.
The cancer research bulls~~~ is a waste of money considering the fact there is a cure for cancer. Even if there was a drug to cure cancer they wouldn’t have released because there is far more money selling chemo.http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/20/business/4-cancer-charities-accused-in-ftc-fraud-case.html

You guys should be excited for breast cancer month? Why?
Because the BRCA 2 gene that causes breast cancer is also a cause of prostate cancer.
For example because my Dad had prostate cancer it puts my sister at risk of breast cancer too.
So any research that helps treat this particular gene helps men too.

Im somewhat with you on this. My mother died of breast cancer young, and when I was in my early 20s. I watched her battle it for two long years. Radiation. Shrivel up to 80 lbs. Lose all her hair. The whole nine yards.
When she died, it was like losing my right arm.
I remember going for a walk in the bay a couple years later. It was abnormally crowded. Everyone adorned in pink. Breast cancer walk.
At this point in my life my conscious was somewhat seared. Life…Death…Its a shot in the dark sometimes. A part of me was p~~~ed at the people walking – what is this some circle jerk to make you all feel better about yourselves? You think walking a few miles is going to change anything or is this just about you proudly wearing some pink bracelet so next time your in line at starbucks everyone sees it in a self serving sanctimonious charade?
Obviously Im not against finding a cure for cancer, but when I see this public display those are the thoughts that go through my head.
I realize your intent was drawing a distinction between public awareness of male vs female diseases. Totally valid. But those are my thoughts on this personal issue. I think many times people use this s~~~ as a way to make themselves look good in the eyes of others, and even worse yet use them to “network”.
