I’m not a currency expert, but I do agree with your advice. My first thought is that anything so volatile as Bitcoin cannot be called a “currency”. Maybe some sort of crazy investment asset, but not a safe one in any case.

Market watcher may correct me but as I understand it wash trading is where you buy and sell the same thing simultaneously to manipulate the price artificially and it is illegal.
